I think Disney only showed Shippuden. I know it sounds weird, but could the two versions of Naruto, just the regular series and Shippuden, be two different licenses?

I wouldn't be surprised.
Shippudden seemed like a continuation of the actual story.
The Naruto series seems like everyubody just jerking off endlessly, it's terrible.

They were, but CN had rights to the first series for about a year after Disney got Shippuden. When their contract ended, I thought I remembered hearing that Disney grabbed it up for cheap (since CN didn't want it enough to fight for it anymore with Toonami going defunct) so they'd have the complete set, even though they never showed it on XD.

Well Disney then decided to flood Disney XD with more tween sitcoms and dropped Shippuden. They probably put it up for sale because they knew that more sitcoms like Kickin' It and Pair of Kings could make them more cheddar/ratings than shows like Naruto or other anime ever could.

Huh. Didn't know they dropped Shippuden.

Then again, I usually don't traverse the ring of hell that is XD.

So there's a problem with getting good shows for Toonami:
There's this app called Neon Alley that is on the PS3, and it sounds a lot like anime for Netflix. Neon Alley is getting exclusive premieres for dubs of shows like Tiger & Bunny, Blue Exorcist, Inuyasha: The Final Act, and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. They also have One Piece.

So, Toonami/Adult Swim is probably competing right now with Neon Alley, and that's why Toonami is getting stuck with middling shows like Naruto and bad shows like GXP. Funny thing is that Neon Alley has the rights to Shippuden as well as the original Naruto show. I don't know how much of an impact Neon Alley is actually having on Toonami, but from an outside perspective it does look like they may be competing.

Toonami with ghost stories would be an instant ratings boost.
And I really hope Toonami gets some new, actually new, show, to help them.

Would MushiShi be a good show for Toonami, or do you thing people would consider it too boring? I'm thinking Soul Eater and/or DarkerThan Black could work well for Toonami.

Toonami finally shows the BOOTY QUAKE episode of Sym-Bionic Titan.

Also, the FMA episode with Nina Tucker is happening right now.

Just looked into it, and Neon Alley is owned by VIZ (along with most of the shows in Neon Alley), who provides a decent amount of Toonamis shows to begin with. Chances are, Viz doesn't want to give EVERYTHING to Toonami so that Neon Alley will succeed, and maybe Toonami is worried about picking up something that might be a bit of a miss with the audience.

Well, Naruto did well in the ratings for it's first ep (900,000) and they're moving GXP to a 3 AM death slot because it's doing poorly, so they really did pick up something that is a miss with the audience. It's cool that they're pulling ratings with Naruto, though. It looks like getting new, non-shonen shows is still quite far off.

I wouldn't be against them re-running Durarara if they still had the rights. It would be a lot better than GXP, that's for sure.

Yeah, but it's earning horrible ratings. I don't understand why they dumped their cheddar on that. The "I have bad luck ALL THE TIME" shit gets old FAST.
