Yes you will, fortify destruction and restoration instead. If you want magicka regen use the Master robes and the Dragon Mask instead, they have much more regen then you can enchant.

I demand that this thread be renamed "Old Papers 5: GO HOME, DINOSAURS."

Also, I have no idea how I overlooked that entire discussion. I'm getting concerned, I should not feel this similar to a dumb blonde...

So far the melee combat is a ton more fun than the magic to me. Especially the kill animations are a lot more gratifying. Breaking a vampire's neck by headbutting him in the face is something few games offer.

So I just wanted to start skyrim and steam told me it has to convert the files to a more efficient file format or something?
And now it's downloading 3 GB of stuff, though I don't know if that's because I added a bunch of proletariats beforehand.

Yeah, it's happened to a lot of games for me. Usually it's only a few MB of data it needs to download though.

I agree, straight-up combat is more satisfying than magic more often than not (and my mage still have yet to get the transmute spell, while my Orc warrior has been turning iron into gold since day f*ckin' ONE), but my favorite play-style by far is stealth. A combination of cutthroat dagger and ranged bow play that's practically invisible to undead even in brightly-lit rooms tends to becomes super lethal. Somersaulting like a boss and doing multiplication with my phone's calculator to figure out just how much it hurts when I insert this sharp thingy into a Draugr's decayed anus (hint: it's a lot). Besides that, it's funny when I can bodaciously roll around a room at top-speed and nobody notices when I've pickpocketed them so much, they no longer have pants!

I vaguely recall a comic from the VG Cats that holds a lot of truth to what can actually be done in Skyrim.

((Edit)) I've also made observations about the two major stealth questlines/factions in the game, in case anybody wants to know which way is more fun depending on their style of play. You can play both with a single character, but one's a lot better at teaching you to sneak and escape while the other just expects it of you naturally or imagines your dagger can take on a bear when it's looking.

Thieves Guild: "Remember what we're here for, lass. We're here to collect and leave without being seen. We're not assassins, we're not cutthroats, and we don't kill anyone that we don't have to. Go against that and you don't get your cut. Follow the rules, you'll do just fine and feel a lot less guilty about it."

Dark Brotherhood: "STABBY STABBY"

That's why I like the Thieves guild better than the Dark brotherhood. The Thieves guild are better at trying to be that unseen, yet influencial force on society wheras the dark brotherhood is about as fame hungry as anyone on youtube.

When I get a contract from them, I actually try to remain unseen (you know, like a REAL ASSASSIN?). They're all just "TURN INTO A WEREWOLF AND MAUL PEOPLE! EVERYONE MUST KNOW!!"

I guess the downfall of the guilds hurt them too.

The Transmute spell can only be learned one way, through a scroll in a mine north-west (I think) from Whiterun.

Ugh! Thank you, I've been looking all over for the spell tome that I thought was sold in shops, but I guess not.

I downoaded the new DLC the other day and I have to say I'm utterly terrified whenever I do the main quest.

*wondering if double post is allowed in the situation*

Finally saw the little pygmy guys in Solstheim. They didn't make a very good impression given they threw sharp things at me without so much as a hello, and didn't even try to hide their smut.

Seriously, they just had a pile of "The Lusty Argonian Maid" books piled in the corner. Why they would even need more than one copy of either book I don't know. That and the floor was sticky, whatever that was about.

I agree, midgets and porn tends to be an uncomfortable combination. Back to the Dark Brotherhood: I'm frankly insulted by their lack of subtlety. Being a fan of the Splinter Cell series, I did my best to adapt to Skyrim's sneaking engine and apply all I knew about practical stealth: avoid taking shots at baddies being watched by other baddies, stick to the shadows, be patient and observe enemy movement patterns, avoid a fight when possible, kill only when you have to... I had to unlearn so much of that to fulfill certain objectives for the Brotherhood just to get my bonus, it made me nauseous. As good as the perks and gear are (free invincible horse and such), it made me feel so unprofessional living up to their standards. They have this ominous reputation as a ghost organization that cannot be found or killed, yet they're bumbling idiots that're so vein, they're two steps down from becoming a brand name and leaving a note claiming responsibility for each and every kill during a contract. Why does an assassin's guild THAT MURDERERED THE EMPEROR (TWICE!!!) want so much friggin' attention?! And they're suprised that they're dying out, because Nocturnal forbid a touch of anonymity would bolster their chances of survival at all.

My favorite example? Assassinate the emperor's cousin while she's addressing the crowd at her own wedding. Yeah, because there's no chance something could go wrong from trying to kill a member of the Tamriel royal family WHILE EVERYBODY IS LOOKING AT HER. I mean, it's not like I could have paid the little boy off to give her a poisoned drink or anything, no. They want her outright slaughtered within everybody's sight. How am I expected to pull this off unnoticed when the only clear shot at the right time is from the middle of the crowd in broad daylight?! Whose idea was it to take on a contract that's essentially a f*cking publicity stunt?! What could possibly be healthy about this sort of behavior for the Brotherhood?! Why in the hell are we provoking the Empire when we qualify as an endangered species?!!! Needless to say, I quit as soon as the jester went bonkers and the dead body started telling me what to do.

They're not concerned with the cloak and dagger so much. Their jobs often involve sending a message to whomever the client wants threatened. Public assassinations double as a show of power. "Yeah, we can kill you without hesitation, in broad daylight, with absolutely no consequences. Fuck with us, PLEASE. Give us the excuse."
