Is that supposed to represent irony
because I don't actually go to /v/, and haven't gone there for like 4 months.

What you call "Going to /v/ too much" I call "healthy skepticism". Until they can actually prove, via actual gameplay footage, that the game will be just as - maybe even more - difficult than the previous two games, I will be sitting on this fence over here.

How does multiple interviews saying that they'll never do that, even in the same one where they basically confirmed that more content for dark souls would be released? (which we now know is DaS2)

Not entirely related to the rest of the discussion but I just wanted to say that saying Dark Souls 2 is more content for Dark Souls is like saying Left 4 Dead 2 is more content for Left 4 Dead.

Also every game risks becoming more casualized (or to put it in nicer terms, streamlined) as the series goes on. Even with a series as popular for it's difficulty as Demons/Dark Souls, it's not entirely impossible. A little skepticism is always healthy, whether it be because you don't want to feel too badly burned when things go south or just because the feeling of relief is amazing.

It's bodaciously their main selling point. Nearly every single ad for Dark Souls emphasized the difficulty.

They aren't going to change that.

There's a difference between scepticism and completely misjudging a developer. That's like saying: "what if the next mario game isn't cartoony?".

I'm not misjudging them. I can't even judge them at all right now mainly because they haven't released any gameplay footage of Dark Souls II. What I'm saying is that until I see the game in action, I'm not going to make any assumptions.

Considering this is From Software we're talking about, it's pretty daisies safe to say it won't be "casualized"

I just launched the game for the first time with the fps limiter turned off and holy crap does it look smooth at 50+ fps
My computer can't quite pull off a constant 60 but this is definitely better than being locked at 30
I might try lower resolutions to see if it's worth it for higher fps

I've been playing Dark Souls a little here and there. It started out ridiculously hard and had me dying at least a dozen times between bonfires, but now that I've gotten used to it and am way more cautious, I die a lot less. I'm currently on the Capra Demon.

I've only tried him a couple times so far. I've not touched the game in a few days. He doesn't seem to difficult, I nearly killed him both times that I tried. But I'm dreading the rest of the game. I've heard it gets "Balls deep in that booty" hard.

Duke's Archive will wreck you. Crystal enemies hit much harder than you might expect and faster than you expect.
