Okay, so I now have Borderlands 2. Any tips or advice for a new player to the series? Got a golden key from a code.

Save the keys till you're level 48-50
Don't bother hoarding guns befoe your second playthrough.

Most of the stuff I'm seeing says 20, 30, or 40 since 50 is when there's actual Best in Slot legendaries to farm. Other people also just say to use them "whenever your current guns don't cut it anymore" since golden key codes get given out every now and then.

Just save it, because you tend to outclass weapons easily at lower levels.

Selected Maya as my first character because psychic gunner. Zer0 was second choice.

So far I do not like iron sights and wish my cursor stayed when I zoomed in. Also took down Knuckledragger with a Second Wind melee attack (ran out of ammo) and got a Badass rank for that so huzzah.

I didn't know you could melee in second wind.
And the iron sights look pretty cool.

Did anybody fight the internter troll guy on the new DLC?
His shields recharge at a bullshit pace.

Gotten used to the ironsights a little more. Some guns have them, some don't. Using a Torgue pistol with exploding rounds and a Jakobson sniper rifle which is kinda pointless for stealth when every baddy in the area knows where the shot came from.

That goes for everything, unlss you're ridiculously far away from them, in which they don't even react to being shot unless they die.
I think I'm going to stick with strictly Vladof pistols, Maliwan launchers, Jakob's snipers, and Bandit shot guns.

They don't even spawn until I'm practically in charging range. Maliwan pistols are pretty nice with Ignite and Siren's +Ele proc skill, I've been using one for several levels and the Torgue pistol replaced it.

I tend to miss with pistols a bit so Vlador is perfect for me, also almost all Hyperion guns suck.
The only one I kinda liked was the shotgun because of it's wicked accuracy.

Found some Eridium in a bandit camp and I'm only level 9. What's it used for?
