Two of my friends are trained nurses, so I'm not too worried.

Wikipedia says MMA is a sport btw.

Well, if someone is really wailing on someone the referee will immediately stop the fight. I do usually prefer to see two fighters duke it out standing than slow wrestling matches, but I appreciate the technique and dexterity involved in the latter.

I don't think I understand your point about respect though, how is it less respectful to first take someone down and then hit them in the face then to hit them in the face directly?

The fight in the video was pretty ugly yeah, here's another "small" guy versus big guy fight that's better imo.

Thread unlocked because Syobon wants to talk about how much he loves Van Damme.

Thanks Great Handsome Oppressor.

Nah just wanted to talk some more about martial arts in general and maybe if people could post vids of fights they liked or something?

I still like fights like this with very different opponents. And it's always great to see so much respect between opponents.

Oh hey, I was going to ask for this to be unlocked, but here it is! I feel better putting this here than unimportant topics.

Anyways, the dojang where I practice Tae Kwon Do is closing. They've been having a lot of trouble with getting enough people to attend regularly, myself included with both school and a job. They are going to hold four more classes and then it's done. It's really saddening for me, because I've been going there for around 6 years, and that's almost a third of my life. Also I was 2/3s of the way to earning a second degree black belt, which I guess I'll never get. I was hoping to get that someday, I'd actually be the first they'd ever train at that level. I guess it's probably for the best, since I still have problems of muscling my moves instead of the speed/finesse they want. Guess I should find some kind of rack now, and hang up my belts on a wall, I don't know what else to do with them.

Fun fact: The school almost closed the summer of my second year. The friends that I carpooled with were practically the only regular attenders, but we were enough at the time that they stayed open. I always kind of held a bit of pride in that, but now I feel like I've failed them. Like I should have been attending more, and maybe they'd stay open. Maybe I'm just being selfish in wanting to say "I saved the school twice! Haha!"
