Does someone have that screencap where an accomplished artist offers him good criticism and he responds with basically "yeah but I have more dA views than you"?

Or you could spare people the time of reading awful webcomics. Sohmer is a shit writer and I've yet to see anything to the contrary. I still read LFG for god knows what reason (I think I just want to find out what the hell is up with the warlock), but almost every page makes me physically cringe.

And I think it's a good thing Dobson quit, maybe now he'll find a job he's actually got a future in, although that's unlikely with the attitude he's got. But, I think he might just be throwing a tantrum and not follow through with it, or be back in a month or two.

Really? If that's true then I shouldn't be right in the middle of the end of Dominic Deegan. I happen to enjoy that webcomic, but if I ask anyone here they'd say it's shit. Point is that people are going to have different definitions for what's awful, and that just because one particular something is awful to you doesn't mean it's not going to be gold to someone else. I understand the temptation. I've turned quite a few people away from various entertainment mediums because I found it to be shit. I've had to get myself in the habit of saying "Well I didn't really like it" instead of "It's bad."

On the mark of "Don't talk about things you don't like," I've always enjoyed talking about things that have failed in some way to analyze why, precisely, they have failed. Dobson, for example, is an excellent case study for "how not to respond to criticism, constructive or otherwise." Talking about something you dislike can also be a good way of finding out what you do like, or it can steer people with less time on their hands for the consumption of media away from works that aren't worth the time, particularly if they share similar tastes with you.

On another note, can somebody please explain why Tom Preston has two names?

Yeah I understand that. The issue, though, is when people find something bad for superficial reasons, or reasons they probably got from someone else in the rumor line. Like if people disliked Dobson just because he did that one comic about miscarriage and knowing nothing about how much of a massive boner he is in real life.

I'm so sorry, Alicia!! He was dead when I found him!!

It's Chimneyspeak. Comic today is fine, but the ads and comic are in general NSFW.

I think I can understand that whole 'analyse what makes something bad' or spare someone wasting their time.
But maybe there's a line to be drawn.

I don't like Dobson. I didn't even know who he was before I heard all the bad press. I read it, I didn't like it. I stopped giving two shits. If someone asked me what I thought, I'd tell em as such. I could back it all up with valid points as to why.
Still doesn't mean I give a crap as to whether he succeeds or fails.
I think getting into arguments about such a person is pointless and trolling him is even worse. That's called giving two shits. Two shits too many.

Hey man, you can like whatever you want and I won't give a shit, but if anyone asks me whether they should read something or not I'm still going to give my honest opinion. And yes, that's just my opinion, it isn't worth more than yours or anyone else, which is why it shouldn't bother you that I'm sharing it.

Today's SMBC, I feel like Zach missed the point that all headbrick participants are doing so voluntarily.

True, but there would also be volunteers if the the university would have a "drink till you drop" contest every week.

*college, whatever

Sport isn't really comparable to self-induced poisoning though.

Sport where getting brain damage is a highly likely outcome is. I can never understand why people do boxing. Or american handegg which the comic was alluring to I believe.

Serious injury is a likely outcome in any sport on a high level. (not counting golf)

I do agree with the bit about spending the cheddar on athletic programs more than anything else. That's what rustled me off about my high school. They had a ton of other places that needed cheddar, like hiring a full-time librarian so the library could be open more than twice a month, and instead they started a fucking football team. Which sucks booty.

Speaking of serious sports injuries, if I say the name Lattimore would anyone know what incident I was referencing?

Yeah, I do agree with the general point that the importance of football in American colleges seems a bit extreme, but the analogy in the comic felt exaggerated and incomplete.

In most sports though, violently ramming and felling enemy players is not integral part of the game but against the rules.

Injuries still happen all the same, and there's nothing wrong with controlled violence.
