Oh, hang on a minute. Need a disclaimer.
THIS POST CONTAINS SERIOUS BUSINESS! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TEH LULZ, SKIP IT!As I was saying, its a tough issue as to when its okay to necro a thread. Mainly, because threads die for a reason; its regular discussion points have been exhausted, and resurrecting a thread normally just degenerates it into off-topic subjects instead, like this for example. But there are two exceptions.
The first is when the post contains something that required a notable amount of effort or creativity - rezzing a thread in the Comics section to post an edit would count - under the premise that the moment of rez backlash is worth not having the effort go to waste.
The second is in this case: whereby while the thread did go inactive, a sufficient amount of time had passed or a new sub-topic has arisen, so that there's enough to talk about on the thread; its normally better to rez a thread than to make a new but identical one.
Buuuut... this thread is more of a gray area. In this case how alive the thread would become would be directly proportional to the number of new forumers, assuming that older forumers already had their say. Thus, it could be decided whether or not it should've been ressed by making an estimate of how many new guys there are, and in this case I'd say that yes, there are enough new people to make the resurrection a good thing.
Buuuut(again), RyuCat is new. There's little chance they actually considered how well the thread would do and instead just resurrected it for their own comment, which in itself isn't enough for a resurrection.
So in conclusion: it was a good thing that this thread was necro'd, but it was also right of the girls to say to him that it was the wrong thing to do.
Also, its called necro-ing, regardless of whether it was justified or not.

Furthermore, as you can see, there are people posting in here again. It was revived, and now it is being used again. As such, his post was not a necro.
Well they could hardly have known that at the time!
