I like loading up songs into Audacity and playing around with pitch and speed. Now that the exposition is out of the way, take a listen to this.

It's this song slowed by 15% and daisies does it sound smooth.

10 metal genres in 3 minutes, helpful if you have trouble telling the difference like me.

Dunno if this has been posted before, but deserves a repost: Map Of Metal.

That's a daisies neat site. I can usually tell which subgenre a metal band is part of (unless it's some subsubgenre that I haven't listened to) but I found the site very informative. It could use a map size slider though and I hate the song - band format.

That video was awesome. I love when it got to Progressive and it was just, "Who the fuck needs a time signature anyway?"

So the compensation tasks for those who didn't find it necessary to attend the English foundation course but still wanted the credits from it were to write an essay on a given subject and to do a Powerpoint presentation of a freely chosen subject. I obviously tried to think of a subject I was good at and decided to go with metal music. I probably won't even have to worry about finding enough material to make it 7 minutes long. I'm gonna EDUCATE those fools.

Baby. Listen to their album God in Three Persons if you're still interested in them, I don't like it as much as any of their albums from the 70s but it's still good and not a bad starting point, not as spooky musically. Demons Dance Alone is more melancholic than anything so you might want to check that out too

I got to do a "research project" in music humanities, I chose METALLICA.

So listening to music is no fun without proper equipment, which is why I just ordered this sexy pair:

There was nothing inherently wrong with my current headphones (Sennheiser HD 438's), just that I had been thinking of stepping it up a bit for a long time and the Audio Technica ATH-M50's are considered one of the best in their price range.

/v/ is having a thread about what game comes to mind from a song and it turned into a Devin Townsend/metal thread.
This is amazing.

Paint the triangle on those headphones red and then they'll be pseudo-AZ 'phones.

Thanks for the recommendation, Mete. I was just looking for a new pair of headphones and they look perfect.

I've been listening to Sly and the Family Stone.
