I wanna ferret really badly.
They smell so bad.
As Fauche said, they only stink if you don't clean out their cage, otherwise they smell like any other rodents. But hamters and ferrets are notroious for having a horrible STANK if you don't keep them and their habitat nice and clean.
I worked with ferrets at the SPCA a lot. They never smelled because their cages were always cleaned at least once a day, since there was a "rodent girl" that tended to them, and if she didn't come in, I - the "cat girl" (lol) - tended to them.
1 out of every 3 was a biter though, be it playfully or in warning/fright. I personally don't want ferrets for this reason.
Before I moved I had two dogs, small fluffy things. Shih tzu/name-I-can't-spell-right mix. We kept their hair short and they were way bigger than they normally should be; they were almost medium-sized dogs instead of being lap dogs. They were MY dogs, but I couldn't bring them with me so they stayed with my family.
If you count pets I live with now, even if they're not technically mine, I currently live with a wiener dog named Yoda (girl - we call her Yodie and Yub Yub for nicknames). In Tuxedo Mask's parents house, which I visit often, there's *takes deep breath and tries to remember all the names* ...
Mouse the munchkin, Chewie (guess what he loves to do to fingers and toes), Satsuki the crybaby, Maui the monster, Joey the storyteller, and Magic the scaredy cat are all the cats, I think.
Mayoki the king shepherd, and Molly, Mojo, and Macki the shih tzus are all the dogs.
They also have some fish I've never really learned the names of.
I think every animal except the fish, Satsuki, and Molly were adopted from animal shelters or rescued from hostile environments. They have a "cat run" built on the side of their house, although they close it off to the cats during the winter.
Then both of Tuxedo Mask's uncles have dogs, one being Smudge and the other being Chico. Smudge is just a mutt, I think, but Chico is a chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix, and he was also saved from an abusive home too.
Edit: Oh right, and we sort of have a pet rabbit. It's a wild rabbit that keeps getting into the back yard somehow, but he doesn't care if we get up close to him as long as we let him eat out of the garden. He'll even let you pet him if you don't approach him too quickly and let him smell you first. He runs away at the first sight of Yoda though.
