I always felt compelled to blow away all the dirt too, but yeah I think I did end up stopping after finding spikes.

Uhm, my thought-chain went something like this:

"That looks kind of like a chore... like community service or something. Why would he be doing community service though? *Starts looking through the comic archive for reasons*"

After looking it up, Link and the term "Community Service" is used in the AZ-comic where Link defeats the twin witches from Oot. But tbh, I don't think that I was infuenced by something while coming up with the idea for the edit.
