But Firestorm, these threads never go anywherIDONTGIVEAFUCK

We need a good thread dedicated to the art of stand-up. There's so many styles, senses of humor, methods of drawing audiences in, topics...it's a more complex art form than most people realize. Here, just talk about your favorite funny people, what it is about their humor that you enjoy, what some of your favorite bits/jokes are, etc.

I've got such a laundry list of favorites, so for convenience sake, I'll only list a few of the absolute greats, some underrated folks, and a few random favorites:

Greats:
George Carlin

Richard Pryor

Lenny Bruce

Mitch Hedberg

Louis CK

Lewis Black

Bill Hicks

Sam Kinison

Underexposed:
Dave Attell

Dana Gould

Tim Wilson

Random:
Patton Oswalt

Jim Gaffigan

Eugene Mirman

I've seen Jim Gaffigan live and it is fantastic. I'm hoping to start doing Stand-up comedy after I graduate.

Here's some full stand-up specials on youtube I enjoy

Very nice selection there. I haven't seen that Lewis Black special yet, so thanks for sharing that one. I quite enjoy Donald Glover too. Weirdo is a riot.

The AIDS vs Baby bit he does on there is just hilarious.

Have you seen all of Jim Gaffugans stuff? King Baby is one of my all time favorites, followed by Patton Oswalts Finest Hour. Also, I would recommend seeing The Comedians of Comedy on Netflix if you have it.

King Baby and Beyond the Pale are both hysterical albums, and I'm actually gonna listen to Finest Hour on Spotify here in a few minutes. The only bit I've heard on Finest Hour so far is the bit about Jerry McGuire, and if that's any indication, the whole album is gonna be great.

I have seen Comedians of Comedy and I love it. So much raw, weird talent. I've actually seen Jasper Redd live, and that guy knows how to mess with an audience.

Take off your bras and burnham.

I rather liked Words, Words, Words. So many good songs, and he's not too shabby at normal stand-up either, if the haiku segment was any indication.

I like how he directly references Carlin in that song. Pretty good stuff.

Oh the fun that he has with that looping machine.

Y'all should check out Dylan Moran. He's a pretty funny dude. Also, look up the TV show Black Books.
