The slowed aging isn't an artistic trick, it's an as of yet unresolved plot point. Undoubtedly one of the things the Heroes of Vale seek is a way to return their lifespan to normal, else they'll watch their own children grow old and die. Assuming their children didn't inherit the trait.

Besides which, they want explanations for WHY this happened besides "lol, you were near the Mars Lighthouse and exposed to its power."

And Issac doesn't seem to know part of the Mars Star was locked inside of him by the Old One.

Plus, all of them seem wary of Alex and what happened with him, which is why they wanted to investigate the sunken Mt. Aleph. Besides the fact that there are Psynergy Vortexes appearing for some reason.

Am I the only one that realizes that the four elements are named after the Roman gods that are connected to those elements, not the planets which were named after said gods, so that it's not stupid for the earth element to be named Venus?

No, you're not. But Venus was born of the ocean, not the earth. Neptune as a god would better represent the ocean than Mercury. Vulcan would better represent fire than Mars.

Neptune was only discover in 1846, would be kind of hard for the Romans to make connections to planets they don't know exist.

Are you arguing for or against Neptune in place of Mercury? I'm finding it hard to follow the train of thought in this thread anymore.

As for the "Psynergy" thing, if they just wanted it to refer to the "Synergy" of "Psychic Energy", they would have just called it "Synergy".

Just go with the Japanese version if you're so picky. They call it "Energy" and leave it at that.

EDIT: Back on track with the "Mercury/Neptune" thing. Neptune has ALWAYS existed as a God in Roman mythology, being the one based primarily around water. If Golden Sun is based on Roman mythos, then they have every right to have named one of the elements Neptune in stead of Mercury, as, again, the elements were named after the GODS, not the PLANETS.

But they choose to name them after planets instead of gods, since they wanted to do something with the astrology part.

And it's pretty senseless discussing what makes more sense to associate with which elements, since the choice of these elements themselves is completely arbitrary and any association with a planet is just loosely based on rationalisation. For instance, Mars being the fire planet might make sense because it's red, but it's actually colder than Venus.

Where did it say anywhere that the elements in a Roman-themed game were named after planets rather than the (more appropriate) gods? Did I miss something somewhere?

Camelot was very much into playing up the mythology aspect in the game, and I don't remember seeing anything anywhere that played into Astrology/Astronomy.

I've never played the game but in the comic it says:"are represented by the planet Mars".

The comic is non-canonical. I'll have to go back through the game now, though, because I don't remember what it said in there...
