Actually, it's Isaac. Matthew has a completely different outfit than Issac. Also, Katie might be a little bad at hairstyles, but this looks a lot more like what Issac would have than Matthew (I'd imagine Matthew to have the same Katie hairstyle as Roy).

It's just a little weird because she has GS1&2 Issac with Dark Dawn Djinn designs.

That being said, I always loved the concept of the Djinn in these games. I picked up the original Golden Sun for some unknown reason (It never really jumped out as a big name game like Mario)... I think I read about it in Nintendo Power or something. But Golden Sun kinda filled a niche between JRPG's that I had fallen out of because of complexity, Pokemon, and Zelda. I remember actually coming up with my own Djinn and wanted to do an RP involving them. The second game however didn't captivate me as much. I dunno why. I loved the plot, the change in perspective on the issue of the Lighthouses, the gameplay was great, but it didn't have that oomph and personalness that the original did. Maybe because I didn't go on the journey with Felix, so I wasn't as close initially to him as I was with all of the backstory with Issac.

That being said, having Dark Dawn take so long to materialize was painful, almost as painful as finding out that the plot of Dark Dawn was pretty much mostly pointless. We ended up right back where we started because Tyrell was a dumbass that fucked up everything in the beginning. Hopefully all of those bonds we made in the first game will matter for the eventual sequel. Also, was anyone else bugged about how the early game talked so much about how lots of people hate adepts and Issac's group for the Golden Sun Event and about how all of the Psynergy Vortexes are appearing and it's terrible only for those things to never really come up during the game? I get that they'll probably be in the next game, but they were the entire hype of the game and were basically barely mentioned in the beginning.

I really can't wait for the next game to tie up the loose ends, especially since we now know that there's a good chance we might be seeing Shadow Adepts.

Eeep. I'm sorry. I wasn't really directing that post at anyone in specific, I was just trying to be funny. I think I failed pretty badly. Sorry again.

THIS COMIC MADE ME SO pop flyin'.

...pop flyin'?

H-A-P-P-Y, damnit! :shakefist:

@Kamak: I partially agree, but I had a much larger issue with the game. It held your hand through the whole damned thing! It wouldn't even let me figure out for myself what to do next before someone told me exactly what to do, or told me I had to talk to someone before doing something that I knew I had to do anyway. I LOATHE plot devices like that. And god, the obsessive dialog! Nobody could shut up!! Every time someone said ANYTHING, every single one of my EIGHT party members had to do some form of "Oh, no!!" on an individual speech balloon before I could progress. RAGE. RAGE LIKE I HAVE NEVER FELT BEFORE.

I love the flavor of the series, but I swear to GOD Camelot, if you do that shiz again, I will MURDER YOUR FAMILY. :science:

Oh Kamak is right it is Issac. Well I really hated all the sequel baiting and i wanted Tyrell dead since he first spoke anyway. I also hated the Magical slow aging BS so the artists didn't have to draw uber old Kraden or almost 50 year old Issac. Lets face it old people are harder to draw than pretty young people and the creators might not have wanted to put so much work into it. I hate that Kraden never shuts up, I hope he does a dramatic sacrifice to allow you to proceed like half the characters in FFII.

Ok, is it SAI-nergy or SIN-ergy? I'm been saying the later since I played through The Lost Age.

It's short for Psychic Energy. So SAI-nergy.

SIN-ergy sounds more official and businessy though. I think I got it off of that one lonely island video.

It's not because they didn't want to put work in it-- The characters look great in their official art, and the models are top notch for a game on the DS. Clearly there was a lot of effort put into the game's visuals. I'd say a more likely reason is because people don't want to see a fifty year old Issac or a billion year old Kraden. People... generally don't like to see their beloved characters in a deteriorated state. I know I don't.

"Psy" has always been pronounced as "SAI", never with a short "I" sound. That's the pronounciation key right there. It's officially "SAI-nergy", or they would have spelled it differently. Like Kamak said, it's a portmanteau of "Psychic" and "Energy", and since "Psychic" is pronounced "SAI-kick"...

Pronounce it however you want. We're just telling you which way is correct. :eng101:

Sainergy sounds dumb though.

:U

(plus if you take the p off it it's an already existing word so there's that)

(you could almost say it's the SYNERGY of psychic powers and energy)

'tis how it's pronounced however. Plus, sai-en-er-gee is a cool sounding thing to me.

Now; djinn... THAT'S a dumb sounding word for an elemental spirit of energy and power. Dæmon, Atronach, Elemental, Hellion, Primordial... there are plenty of cooler sounding names out there.

Djinn are genies that grant powers to people though, and can influence people.

Besides which, Djinn is the arabic word for "concealed demon", and in Islamic culture, Djinn can be helpful or harmful.

They could've made the time skip less extreme though. Besides there are plenty of people who no doubt started dark dawn without having played the first two games. Those people would be more likely to love the new protags as favorite characters rather than the previous heroes.

The slowed aging isn't an artistic trick, it's an as of yet unresolved plot point. Undoubtedly one of the things the Heroes of Vale seek is a way to return their lifespan to normal, else they'll watch their own children grow old and die. Assuming their children didn't inherit the trait.
