I like Terraria and I like space. I'm looking forward to this.

This.

Having just obtained Terraria this week, I feel it is a nice, whole game that doesn't need any bugfixes or addition of content. I am glad that there is this new game which takes the same basic ideas and brings it to a whole new level.

This game looks pretty neato bateato, I'll definately get it.

Just as a note, the Terraria dev who's working on Starbound is the one who didn't quit (though having a kid is a totally valid reason to ditch a project like that), so to me it seems Starbound is a continuation of Terraria, but without any legal hassles.

On the game itself: Directional lighting, water pressure, two handed combat/exploration, NPC buildings, pets, and the ability to walk up little steps instead of jumping around like a moron! That's a pretty solid upgrade from Terraria already!

How about we talk about Starbound instead of Minecraft?

On the relation of both, I find it funny that Minecraft's developer went on to create a space game, 0x10c, and Terraria's developer went on to create a space game, Starbound.

Heh.

the reason people arent mad at mojang is because notch left the game in the hands of someone competent enough to keep it updating and working on the problems notch left behind

terraria just got flat out dumped without even a modding API

All the mobs in starbound are randomly generated
You can tame some.
The planets are all randomly generated and are planned to have different effects of gravity and environments.
It looks pretty awesome

I really like this guy's spritework. Clean lines, neat shading, doesn't focus on the quality as individual sprites, and more on how the thing in motion looks.
