That is bodaciously the only way I'd play it.

I just read most of this thread, and I am under the opinion that the Wii U actually does look promising.
They revealed games for all sorts of genres and for casual, hard core, and somewhere in the middle.

If they didn't reveal something, it doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. Zelda WiiU and SSB4 are still coming. They just didn't have anything to show yet.

also, lol@Wonderbook.
I like Harry Potter and all, but we need an RPG that you can actually take part in the Hogwarts experience, not a junk game where you can mess around with spells in a storybook environment. :<

Since Wonderbook, why are they calling it "The Book of Spells" without putting the Harry Potter label on it? It's Hogwarts, the spells are all the same, there's houses, just take the final step and slap the Harry Potter brand logo on it.

EDIT: GOOD NEWS EVERYONE

Wii save data will transfer to the Wii U. So there will be no concerns with upgrading and losing your stuff. About the only bad thing will be that you won't be able to play brawl with Gamecube controllers.

And the two NSMB games are being made by different teams and won't interact at all.

NFC isn't being discussed at the moment, and while the WiiU can support two gamepads, this does cause some noticeable strain. According to other sources, it lowers frame rate to about 30fps.

All in all, not much was said this time. Nothing like a hint or picture of the next Zelda game like what happened with Skyward Sword.

Oh well, still got tomorrow's 3DS conference.

Remember people, you wait to buy a console a year after its release. This lets you see how well it's doing and by that time it generally has a good stable of games. I deeply regret buying my Wii when it launched because the lack of good games for so long poisoned my enthusiasm for it.

On the whole 2 gamepads cause lower framerate thing, please realize that the Wii-U probably isn't entirely optimized yet as they are using cords at E3

What if they have an ambassador program filled with gamecube and dreamcast games? Then would it be a day one buy? Or at least a month 1 buy?

Depends on the games maybe. If it's stuff I already have, then nope.

I think people have forgotten what developing a new console is like, after being stuck with wiis, ps3s and xboxes for like 7-8years

None of the demos are using two gamepads as far as I know.

This news came from a company with the final development kit. It will probably be patched later, but right now, it's probably going to launch with some frame rate lag.

FTFY

I'm waiting for the inevitable bloodbath that's going to be every console release in the future. Gamers' expectations for new consoles launch lineups have become completely ridiculous in recent years.

That Wii U feature that asks you how you're feeling about a game seems really helpful. If it can sense that you're getting frustrated and on the verge of ragequit, it could help you through it and help you asses the situation. I do that kind of stuff manually when I'm stuck on a game, helps a shitton.

I'd be more surprised if the game they're treating as the Wii Sports of this console wasn't bundled in.
