If by satisfying you mean "Vorgaunts blow up planet, everyone dies," then sure.

I thought it was a bit shit.

The last Hitchhiker's Guide book written by Douglas Adams ends with the Vortigaunts blowing up Earth in every dimension. It was a big downer ending and Adams has stated that he hated it himself. He wrote it while not feeling too well. He was planning to write another book with a better ending, but died before getting around to it.

Eventually Eoin Colfer was asked to write a new book, using some notes Adams made, to give the whole story a better ending. I have it here and, while it is faithful to the original story in ways of characterization and style, he tends to ride a bit too much on what Adams wrote, while not using enough characters of his own. That said, I found it to be a very entertaining book which gave the whole series an ending that it deserves, instead of the depressing one that it had.

If you plan to read through the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, do yourself a favor and read And Another Thing... as well.

I like And Another Thing, but that is because I have been a big Colfer fan my whole life.

It is not very much like Adams' style of writing at all, so there's that, but its still a very good book in it own right.

Ok, I finished The Wise Man's Fear.
I'm going to join the line of people waiting for the third book now.

Anyone want to join me? You'll need to pick up The Name of the Wind, first. Trust me, it's absolutely worth it. It's been a lon time since I've found a book so engrossing.
