The no-periods thing was just cos of the birth control I was using. My doctor warned me it could potentially stop my periods and I wasn't caring too much about it. I think it stops eggs being released or some weirdness like that, so there's no reason for periods to happen. In the end the doctor told me it was pretty normal on the type, and I'll be getting it refitted soonish.

Nacha: I used to drink cola in the mornings on the way to school in the mornings and have the same sort of thing happen. Sugar rush followed by 2 hours of Hospitality class is enough to make you feel pretty daisies queasy.

It depends on the pill. Most pills will either increase your metabolism rate, suppress your appetite or both.

Diet pills are generally not the way to go. For the most part, they are gimmicky - and their effects on people vary. Not to mention they can also be VERY DANGEROUS. I remember a situation where a diet pill severely dehydrated someone and they ended up dying while playing a sport.

If you are serious about losing weight, you need to take control of your eating habits and exercise. That's all I did. At my heaviest I weighed 210 lbs, and I'm only 5'7". Once I altered my eating habits and started exercising regularly, I lost 40 lbs.

Unfortunately my life has been very tumultuous lately with moving, and I'm mostly motivated to exercise when I'm at an actual gym. But you don't need a gym to change your eating habits. Look at what you're eating. See something bad? Don't buy it any more. Honestly, that's one of the best things I did. If something was bad for me, I just didn't buy it. If it's not around me, I can't be motivated to eat it. I still do this now and it's helping me at least maintain my current weight.

I could go more into it if you want but I realize I'm getting long-winded, so I'll only do so if you want me.

Increased metabolism is contrary to the goal. It doesn't change anything except make you hungrier. And if you already can't resist the urge to keep eating then a growling stomach won't do much to aid you otherwise.

Which is why some pills advertise increased metabolism combined with appetite supressors.

Which is also why I emphasized eating habit changes and exercise over diet pills, since they are effectively useless - unless you can achieve a dieting mindset over "I want to lose weight, give me an easy solution". Not all diet pills are useless, but the vast majority are, and it's just easier to lose weight the old fashion way without bothering yourself with them.

My mom works in a preschool/childcare. She used to be kind of heavy, because she was eating the kid's snacks with them. Once she stopped eating their snacks, she lost a bunch of weight. Even a little change like that can do a lot for someone's health.
