I saw it an found it interesting. I was just focused on the subject of Discord to get away from the subject of where baby boners come from.

Also, Mare Do-Well's costume is basically the Darkwing Duck outfit.

That episode is the most love it or hate it in the series. This one, and Over a Barrel.

I personally like it.

I thought Feeling Pinkie Keen was the most love it or hate it episode?

Also, I think that Scootaloo should get an episode sometime soon. Maybe something about her learning to fly?

I never heard much complaints for MareDoWell,
Over a Barrel and Pinkie Keen I have heard plenty of complaints.
I enjoyed them both, but making Native American Buffaloes....

They all became friends in the end though, as long as Pinkie Pie stopped singing.

I liked the buffaloes. Never thought people would complain about them, sheesh.
As long as they didn't speak in stereotypical "Me Big Horn, you Little Hoof" speech, I don't see any problem there.

its the same issue as zecora

the idea that in order to be an allegory for a different real-world race, they have to be a completely different SPECIES as the normal white-coded boners, is pretty racist in and of itself, instead of being boners with a different culture(you know, like how real native americans and real black people are simply humans with different skintones and/or culture?). a lot of people have found it very bad because the "other races are obviously not the same human species as normal white people and so theyre allowed to be oppressed" has been used a LOT in our world's history to enslave and oppress and etc other races. Native American tribes in north america still receive less than good treatment by the government. Half of my family is navajo, and every single one of them is extremely poor, and the schools the children go to are depressingly inadequate compared to the schools children in my area go to, and i don't even live in a nice area.

there is also the issue that some people view that the biggest problem with the buffalo episode is that it essentially boils down the (very bloody) history between native americans and white people to being an argument over an orchard to be solved with song & dance, pie, and friendship(considering friendship is as disimilar to the real-world situation as you can get).

I think the whole thing behind Zecora was just to add an element of 'this person is different' to convey the episodes message of 'the unknown isnt always out to get you'. It also helps kids realize different people do different things and know many helpful and kool things.
I dont think they were trying to make Zecora an allegory for any particular race, but a symbol for the unknown.
And the whole bison/native american thing was a terrible stain on the history of america, I don't see whats wrong with telling the story to kids.

Ah, but here's a debate: in-series, there's no way to tell if a "normal" pony is white/black/ethnic. Who's to say Rainbow Dash is ethnic or not? It's all based on assumptions.
The way I saw it, in Zecora's case, they wanted to put in a "different" pony in the episode that taught children tolerance to those who are different. Zebras are quite similar to horses. Zebras belong in Africa. Her voice is meant to reflect that. Same goes for the buffaloes in terms of character design.

Personally I don't see it as an issue of race at all. The Native American land dispute allegory in itself is debatable, but the character designs aren't outright offensive as many say they are.

in the beginning it was easy to say that the boners could be codified as any race

but then they went and made the only "black" character a zebra and the only "native/aboriginal" characters buffalo, and that changes things a lot. you cant have some races a completely different species and expect people to keep believing the boners arent white. whats next? middle eastern camels?

But the boners don't have ethnicities anyway. There are boners that live in Ponyville, Fillydelphia, Canterlot, etc. but there's zero mention of race (because frankly, that would be a little silly. You have PANK ones and purple ones and blue ones and red ones and green ones! They come in all colors)
Zecora only seems "black" because she's from the MLP version of Africa (presumably) and the buffaloes only seem "Native American" because they're from the MLP version of the wild west. Who's to say that that's just how boners looked like in those respective areas?
In the real world, you wouldn't naturally find modern horses in the savannas of Africa, and (historically) you wouldn't find them in the American West, either.

It's true, actually! :D
Horse ancestor fossils were found in the Americas dating at around 11000 years ago, but soon afterward they died out and went extinct. The species lived on in Eurasia, and were finally re-introduced to the Americas after the colonists settled in the Northeast.
