So figured I'd revive this because I started playing Kamidori Alchemy Meister. It's a year or so old, but the translation project just finished. You have your walls of text like any other VN, but there's also an actual game part to it. If I had to compare it to things, the dungeon crawling and battles are pretty similar to Fire Emblem (or SRPGs in general) where you can move each unit in your party a set number of spaces each turn, combat is based on stats and what not, and when you level up your skill increase is determined by RNG. It also has some Atelier-like features such as material collecting in dungeons and then back at your workshop you can combine them using alchemy to make new items and weapons (so basically item crafting.) You also gotta pay the bills, so there's a third, Recettear-like element to it where you manage your workshop, add furniture to change your store layout and add different bonuses, and sell the things you find and make. Also, I should mention it's 18+, so I'm assuming there's porn in there somewhere too. So far it's pretty daisies fun, but I'm only two hours in and still in the prologue. There has been some typical VN dialogue and situations (MC and girl bump into each other in the street and fall over, MC comments on the color of her panties, girl gets mad, etc.) but nothing outrageously stupid...yet. I'd recommend giving this a try if you like SRPGs, item crafting and store management.

oh dag, i somehow didn't see that was being translated, let alone so quickly
guess i'll add it to the list

just finished SnK yesterday
it was enjoyable, but didn't leave much of a lasting impression on me
i'll probably play the fandisc to finish it up, and start hoshizora when its final patch is out

A while ago I tried Sengoku Rance.

I had heard about it being pretty much a "rape yo' enemies (bodaciously)" game, but I was still vaguely interested in trying it. Ended up forgetting about it but then a friend of mine wound up playing it; told me about the turn-based gameplay and it seemed like he was having fun, so it piqued my interest again.

I could not play the game past the first H-scene because it was so stupid. The characters were ridiculously extreme stereotypes with terrible writing (oh my god the adjectives they used), and there was so much writing. It took a couple of minutes to skip through the entire scene. Also Rance I do not want to read about you swinging your dick back and forth and calling it a rocket. Overall, I would describe it as: disgustingly stupid.

The gameplay wasn't bad, but it was not enough to make me want to suffer through all that terrible porn.

Yeah, I'm like 22 hours in and I'm not even on anybody's route yet. It is pretty fun, though. Just got this angel chick who flies over everything, wrecks shit with her spear, and can counter ranged units with some holy magic. It's pretty boss.

So. I guess the only VN I've ever played is Katawa Shoujo. I did Hanako first of course, followed by Lilly. I hated Shizune before I did her route, but after, I didn't. I still don't LIKE her, but I don't hate her anymore.

I was hesitant to play Rin's route, because all throughout the demo, I wanted to punt her ovaries into her shoulder blades for being so needlessly obtuse, but it all worked out in the end since my laptop crapped itself and died before I could start the last two routes, and it won't install in this computer.

I wouldn't say I have a Waifu now, but I did suffer the usual depression most people exhibit after playing.

I still haven't managed to start the second Act. Still thinking about who to choose first.
Right now I'm leaning more towards Emi, since I think helping Hisao with his heart condition could make for an interesting start to a relationship.

Oh you silly people and your cripple waifus.
Don't you know that the best waifu is a husbando?
But yea, I'd have to say Morenatsu is my favorite VN, I like the feels it gives me before it gives me the gay sex.
I also love that fucking soundtrack HNNG.

Fffffffuck!
Corpse party is fucking crazy!
It's not scary in the same way, say, silent hill is scary but it just doesn't hold back at all!
So much violence and gore.
I thought Yuka at least would be safe because she Is the Adorable little girl type but she got Her fucking eye stabbed out with a giant pair of sewing scissors. Christ.

Monster Girl Quest 2 full translation patch came out yesterday and I just finished it. Can't wait for the final part.

daisies I love this story. Already knew Ilias was evil, the angel feather at Reminas and the Hero Heinrich sealed away just clinched it. Did not know she was going to re-create the entire world though, or that she was the one behind Black Alice. Also angels can't be touched by humans or monsters, so Luka's the only one who can fight them since he's got angel blood in him.

Yeah, it was painfully obvious that Ilias was evil way before it actually came out and said it. I don't remember Luka having angel blood, though. I just assumed he would be able to fight them since he's the mc and his sword is made from angels anyway so I figured that would work.

Every time he fell asleep he'd use angelic moves. Fallen Angel Dance, Nine-Fold Rakshasha, etc. Read up on it and apparently the ring he has isn't magical, but the opposite in that it drains magical energy. It's the only thing keeping his angelic nature suppressed, otherwise he'd use it a lot more and eventually turn full angel.

Also did you use Quadruple Giga on the Imp? That was so hilarious.

So I gave Saya no Uta and Kanon a try, in that order. I was far more disturbed by the latter than the former.

those fucking eyes
