Why is it that people always tell you to "party like it's 1999"? Was there something particularly celebratory about that year? Were people around the world revving up their parties that whole year because they thought it would be their last chance before Y2K? "Oh no I won't be able to use my dial-up internet next year, I should throw a kickass party". You see the thing is, many of us were quite young in 1999, so while the phrase is supposed to be synonymous with "party hard", to us it just means "be sure to rent a bouncy castle".
