I haven't played any of the M&L series yet. I blame IGN for putting me off getting Partners in Time due to hard battles or some crap they wrote.

PiT in the worst in the series anyway. I would start with superstar saga, then make your way to bowser's inside story.

Incidentally, I'm not very fond of SMRPG.

I think it's because the first time I played it was on the Virtual Console so I don't have the nostalgia factor going for me...

I don't know why people dislike PiT so much. About the only thing I disliked about it was that it was too short (mostly because I wanted a few more areas), but BIS had that same problem (and was less enjoyable).

I dunno, I'd say PiT is my favorite of the three. The first one felt a bit... unorganized, in a way.

It wasn't all that memorable to me. The story was bland, the combat was meh, and special moves weren't all that memorable. It just doesn't feel like an M&L game.

BiS wasn't all that short anyway, and how was the first game "unorganized?"

I'm not sure how to explain it, but it just felt like the story twisted so many times and had you off doing side things a lot (like suddenly getting Chuckola Cola for the Queen when you need to be worried about the Beanstar having just been kidnapped). I know RPGs do that a lot (understatement), and I've played a decent number of RPGs that don't go for the "collect the obvious set of macguffins" approach, but just something about the way it was done in M&L1 didn't sit right with me.

I thought Superstar Saga had a fantastic plot. So many twists! I doubt there will ever be another Mario RPG like it

I bought Partners in Time as my first M+L title and that put me off the rest of the series; I didn't realise it was the worst game in the bunch.

But M&L games are like pizza. When they're good, they're really good. And when they're bad they're still pretty good.

Get Bowser's inside story and you will forget you ever made that notion

Nobodys even talking about Super Mario and the Seven Stars. Smithy is far more badass than any of the villains encoutnered in the Mario series thusfar. And I really got chills fighting him. When I was 5, first game I beat too.

I liked Cackletta. It was cool how she developed in power as a villain as the bros. did as heroes. Each faction was able to beat the other at various times.

It is, at least in PAL regions.

It's ironic because we never got it first time around.
