the acronynm has grown longer since it wants to be more inclusive. so Lesbian Gay Bi Trans Queer Intersex Asexual and i think that's it

tbh it bugs the shit out of me when people use the A to stand for allies. like why are you trying to get in on our acronynm.

also queer, as i've come to understand it, is an overarching term/for people who don't quite fit under one specific label

also if you'e worried about offending people: if they say "i'm x/i like x/whatever" just be like "okay" and roll with it

Honestly, sometimes I feel that it gets way too overcomplicated that it almost annoys me. Don't get me wrong I'm all for equal rights and representation but I find it almost....I don't want to say silly, but when you need 5 different words just to express what gender or sexuality or WHATEVER it is I think its a bit much. Its probably because its in my face so much and I know there are attention seeking special snowflakes who just say they're 10 different things just for attention and it kinda ruins it. I'm generally pretty simple when it come to things in my life, I like stuff to the point generally so maybe that's why.

I've had to refrain from specifically saying "sexuality" or "gender' in reference to the terminology because I honestly don't know what half of them even mean or relate to, but its one of those things that I'm never going to specifically ask someone because I don't care its their life they live it how they want but I feel people yell it in your face regardless.

Maybe I'm a crumdudgeon and I probably get it from my dad, I feel the same way about people playing race cards and shit. I don't really care what you are as long as it makes you pop flyin' then more power to you.

Though I feel things would be better if more people felt that way.

So, asking those of you who identify as such, would you rather people proudly recognize your lifestyle? Or would you rather, if its mentioned, people give you a thumbs ups if anything and go about their day because its just something that makes you who you are, just like the myriad of other quirks, choices, and lives everyone has?

If I offend anyone I am sorry, trust me i am not the type to belittle people but I feel I should let it out because I am honestly rather curious.

I hate labels since they made me question everything for about a year and a half.
Especially if I'm going to be included in the LGBTQAASWQANFIADK acronym.

Now I just say "I like both genders" and if someone says "oh so youre bi" I just say no and refuse to elaborate.

identifying with something is kind of like, having solidarity with the group. you're in the minority, and having people out there who understand is just. it can be really nice. and with things like homosexuality, they/we??? can't get married right now and various other things, so the group can also help push for equal rights and stuff. and label just like, can make it easier for some people.

It's not like I don't like dudes, so I'm in the same struggle for equal rights and stuff.
I mean, I get where some people like labels, but personally they just cause me stress.

I'll be honest, a lot of the people of differing sexualities in my life are downright assholes who will jump down your throat if you so much as think the word "Gender"

I try not to let it sour me but it doesn't work too well

Isn't attaching labels exactly what you don't want? The whole "those people are different than the 'normal' people" thing.

where did you even get that from

but not everyone likes labels and i'm just simplyfing this a lot. basically it's about being included and having other people who understand what you're going through

"Give something a name and people will unavoidably use it to separate you from what's "normal", discriminate, generalize..."
Having a dozen different words to be ultra specific about your gender and sexuality might generate more people who have something against it just for existing.
