I always just joke about asexuals getting their own group, but honestly why? The whole point is we don't care about sex and sometimes about gender, not loudly announce we don't care.

One of the A's is for Allies, which I usually forget to leave out when I'm talking about just non-straight and trans* people.

There's more to the acronym but I forget the rest of it. Pansexual and other stuff is in there.

Queer is also genderqueer and other stuff.

why include queer at all if it covers everything/is already covered by things

...couldn't it just be shortened to something like PODS (People of different sexualities) or something? Or PODSG (People of different sexualities and gender)

Well I think the Q is also questioning, if you don't know where you fit or just don't want to label yourself.

Still a huge and completely unnecessary acronym, which are supposed to be short.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculously long. I also don't get what queer means anymore. Could anyone be so kind as to explain it?

To be honest, i'm also very confused about sexual orientations and genders now. It seems like theres a million terms, and I'm worried about seeming ignorant and having to ask "Is that a thing?" if it were to come up in conversation. Is there a chart somewhere?

I used to have a list of all the terms for different sexualities and genders, but I can't find it. Wikipedia has pretty comprehensive articles on them if you look there.
