There's a common misconception that sharks don't get cancer. It's just weird enough that people remember it easily, but not so weird that anyone ever needs to look it up.

My biochemistry textbook just told me you can genetically modify plants by shooting at their cells with a gengun, that shoots little plastic bullets coated with DNA.

Well yeah, I'd hope so, this textbook costed something like 60 euros.

You want to know why someone examined the pH of a foodstuff regularly eaten by billions of people? Something to do with food safety or nutrition, I'd imagine. pH levels will help determine how quickly it will go bad. It will also tell you if in the process of making it something went wrong.

According to my psychology book there is no hope for someone to "permanently" lose or gain weight as the brain will cause great impulses for more/less food/exercise to maintain a set weight.

So uh, what does your psychology textbook think about all the people who did lose or gain weight?

Well ok, not exactly "no hope". I just added that myself for I don't know why did I add that?
Also for people gaining weight it says that it might be due to an increase of stuff like sedentary lifestyles and meals being eaten in a rushed manner. Didn't say anything about losing weight.

Well, it's true in some regard. There is a weight range where you will naturally find yourself by exercising. It can be improved or worsened with diet, but otherwise it remains fairly static. Slack off on the self-maintenance though and body goes to pot no matter what your genetics say.
