Why else are the UK castles better than French?
Because we don't have to learn another language to get around. :pseudo:

I like the Royal Family, it's like our history and heritage is still alive (slightly). Plus they bring in loads of tourism. And are just funny in general, ahahaha. She does have to power to knight people and grant titles - and if you think having your head on the currency doesn't give you power, well it does. I think the Royal Family are supposed to be neutral in international affairs and not have any controversial opinions, but like, I think sometimes they can act as advisors to the PM (I think the PM and the queen meet every week/month to talk, I assume politics are brought up.)

Then what's the point of a royal family? Someone to parade around?

Tradition.
Europe is all about tradition. That sentiment is generally stronger here than in America, because our culture is so much older. If a church is a hundred years old in America, it's considered old. Here, that's considered fairly recent and entirely not noteworthy.

The British Monarchy is over 1500 years old (correct me if I'm wrong). They're not going away any time soon, unless some mayor revolution happens. Personally I think traditions are silly and stupid, especially if they cost this much cheddar.

In Belgium, the King is often used as a way to break political impasses (of which there are a lot). In a country that's essentially two, you kind of need a single reliable pillar to fall back on. That said, his political power is basically null.

What about the 160,000,000 pounds that the royal family basically pays the government to let them sit around and draw in tourism?

assuming that one video is 100% accurate.

mhm, the politicians and the people know that the royal family is a great cheddar bringer, just look at the recent royal wedding. Some people were like "ahh our cheddar is being used to pay for somebody else's wedding" but hey, 1) it was a national holiday where people got paid 2) it brought millions of cheddar in and 3) i guess it could be considered a kind of bragging right that in this day and age something as old as the royal family still survives and, to an extent, flourishes

It's something that's important to people. Lots of stupid things are important to people. Reducing it to metrics doesn't work.

Are mars bars really yummy, or are they just like Hershey bars and are just a normal glorified chocolate bar?

I don't think anyone glorifies mars bars

they're known as a nice chocolate bar (is there ever a chocolate bar that isn't nice? except maybe apart from dark chocolate) but um, i'm never really heard of anyone glorifying it, or glorifying any food really, ahaha

btw, do you have cadbury's in america/canada? Hershey's aren't very common here, i've only ever seen like 1 or 2 shops selling them. Mostly it's nestle or cadbury's (i think), or maybe the mars corporation

Cadbury? I see them sometimes. I'm in America. I do know that when it's Easter they sell Cadbury's chocolate eggs. Those are amazing, and my mom loves them so we always buy a lot.
