(According to my physics teacher from years ago if I remember right) if you see a spark, every centimeter of length of the spark is equal to 1000 volts.

There's a weird little image floating among the Halo community.

Image

An IGN screenshot taken from around the Defiant map pack launch. What makes it weird is that the Spartans on left and right are equipped with the default armor configuration. Well, the one in the middle is too, save for the helmet. The helmet is unobtainable in the game, no amount of grinding, or headshots, or alien spines snapped will net you the fancy helm. Okay, so it's a Bungie/343 exclusive helmet, what of it? Well in the latest map pack, Anniversary, sharp eyed snipers and bold explorers have caught glimpses of a strange figure hidden away in lonely corners and dark nooks.

Image

A miniscule Spartan doll left abandoned, and as you may have noticed he/she's got he same helmet as our buddy up there.
Exactly what's 343 hinting at no one's entirely sure of.

and that was Blitz Walrus' Halo fact of the day.

The Borealis, the famous Aperture Science project, was to be travelled through at the start of Half-Life 2 during beta stages, it would have featured cool weapons like the Flare gun, Extinguisher, and an interesting gun some consider the "AR1", which was to have a scope instead of the Energy Ball blaster.
The Borealis was also going to be called the Hyperborea.

I'll update on the Borealis' origins in a sec.

The Borealis is based off of the USGCS Polar Star, and her sister, the Polar Sea, both ice breakers, by surprise, a majority of the crew were Half-life fans, and gladly showed Valve every inch of the Polar Star.

The idea of the Borealis' teleportation is influenced by the legend of the Philadelphia event, where people believe that a ship, the USS Healy was rendered invisible, or had teleported to an enemy base 200 miles away. The most radical being that it achieved time travel.

Thats Liraxus' Half-life facts of the day/whenever!

Blitz, that helmet kinda reminds me of the helmet Weller wears in the Dead Space 2 DLC.

SO MORE HALF-LIFE FACTS, Eli Vance was actually originally planned to be a different character entirely. Alyx, (back when she had PANK hair and a wetsuit,) was supposed to be the daughter of Captain Vance, a leader in the resistance movement. Eli was supposed to be an old scientist whose lab was in a cave. Eventually the captain idea was scrapped and Alyx and Eli were combined into the father-daughter relationship they have now.

ALSO DID YOU KNOW the Prophets from Halo 2 and the Engineer from ODST were actually planned to show up earlier in the series, but the idea was scrapped since it was still in the concept stages. Interesting enough, however, the Brutes were created late into the development of Halo 2 and is the reason why they didn't really get any custom armor, looks, feels, etc. until Halo 3

And that was the Lithium no one cares fact of the day

Fact: Excess made a pretty awesome Bo Burnham reference a few pages back.

Also, Hitler's private train was called 'Amerika'

Aaah, I love this thread, ahem.

One of the greatest easter eggs in modern gaming might be found in Halo: Reach.
To reach it you must play the level The Package on Legendary hopefully with a couple chums. Towards the end you're tasked with defending a lab while Doctor Halsey prepares some sort of mysterious package for you and the remnants of Noble Team. The lab is located deep underground entrenched beside a titanic glacier. Covenant forces lay siege to the lab and you must make the most of the scattered weapons and supplies to fend them off.

BUT!

After the siege if you go to the far end of the map there's a fence. Using a jetpack you must tiptoe across the top of the fence then flip on over to an otherwise unreachable point on the map. Hit a conspicuous switch then die. You'll then respawn next to your buddy.

What happens next is the stuff legends are made of.

A cadre of the gnarliest, angriest, pimpinest Elites in the series will materialize. Wielding Plasma Swords and Fuel Rod Cannons, these gold armored bastards are the final guardians of the Tribute Room. Defeating them will require every bullet, every grenade and every last iota of skill you have. If your ragtag team of Spartans can hold your ground from the Covenant onslaught and send the God Tier Elites howling back to Hell you'll gain access to the Tribute room.
The Tribute room is a room in Halsey's lab where Bungie gives thanks to the millions of fans and hundreds of people who's worked on the series throughout the years.

And that was Blitz Walrus's Halo Fact of the day.

Everyone kind of uh...knows that.

But yeah, its pretty sweet.

Ehem...

The first Fast headcrabs don't appear in Ravenholm, but if you go back to the rebel base you got your mudskipper from, you'll find the girl that gave you the Skipper was killed by a nearby Fast Headcrab waiting for you on the wooden docks.

Thats my Half-life fact of the day!

During the Continuation War in WW2, the Finns had military bishops and mobile churches. Not only that, they also had multiple rabbies and synagogues.
What makes it funny is that Finns were fighting alongside the Germans.

While watching a movie most everyone watching will blink at the same time. Your brain figures out a place to blink where you won't actually miss anything. Somehow everyones brain will choose the same time.

While it is humorous that the Finns had Rabbis when allied with the Germans, I'm not sure why you needed to mention them having Bishops.
Most countries at the time, the Soviet Union excluded, had some sort of designated religious attachment, or Chaplain.
Even them rascally Germans.

Excess?

Also, .27% of all Jenga games are played on 9/11.

There was to be a playable alternate reality in the original Halo: Combat Evolved.
in the Alternate Reality everything would've progressed as normal until you dropped off Cortana in the control room. During the next level she'd drop hints towards something sinister but the level would progress as usual.
Upon your return to the control room you'd find Cortana has gone mad with power and had taken over the entire Halo installation. Using her new found omnipotence she would threaten to conquer/destroy the galaxy, and of course you'd have to stop her.

and that was Blitz Walrus' Halo Fact of the day.
