Has there ever been talk of changing government systems? From a monarchy to something else?

So I'm not British at all, but my friends at school think I look really British. I don't know why :U

I thought Parliament was in complete control, and the Queen is just a figurehead?

I thought the queen had at least some minor political/government control? Parliament does control a majority, but I didn't think they had complete control over everything.

Someone British come to our rescue.

She sort of does in Australia, at least - indirectly. The Queen has a representative in the Aus government, and he can reject any law or notion or whatever if he feels it isn't in the best interests of the people.

Does she have an influence over what he rejects or does he act of his own accord?

From memory he acts of his own accord, but he's still there representing her in an official capacity

when she wants to enter the houses of parliment they make a show of the prime minister allowing her to enter to prove she doesnt have much control

Then what's the point of a royal family? Someone to parade around?

this might clear up a few things about the royal family.

The royal family isn't bothered by the idea that they have absolutely no power? Also what about the military? For some reason I can't shake the idea that they have some military power, but maybe that's just from seeing headlines about the male members entering the forces.

EDIT: That's a neat video, although I do wish it went a little more in-depth about the government.
