Also, does anyone know, if I replace the battery in my cartridge, is it still going to crap out again in a few years? Maybe I should just take up emulating...

Yeah, about that. I was listening to the soundtrack of the original Gold and Silver, and I realized that no matter what Nintendo does, the DS versions just won't be the same.
