You know, if you actually read his studies instead of joking about "lol sex dreams durr hurr," you can actually learn a lot. His work laid the foundation for modern psychotherapy, even if his ideas about dream psychology aren't taken seriously anymore.

Yes, but mostly by getting people interested in something while his own work was batshit crazy. It was the equivalent of some guy laying down gummi bears instead of concrete for a house foundation and then trying to build something on it. Then when his structure inevitably collapsed the people who had been watching and gotten their own ideas on architecture went and did it the right way.
