After reading this article:
http://8wayrun.com/threads/critical-edg ... face.9277/ I had a rant on Twitter.
Quote:
"Until the "FGC" starts respecting all fighting games, even the smaller ones, its not something I can see supporting as a whole."
It's true. FGC doesn't respect Soul Calibur, Tekken, MK, DOA, Melty Blood, Smash, and all of the doujin/ poverty communities.
The only games that matter are SF4 and MvC3. Even old school games are shunned. SF2? Alpha? 3.3? Darkstalkers? No respect.
It's normal that you'd want current game to be important so you can have sponsors, bigger interest, more tournament entries, bigger prizes
But "current games" =/= "Capcom games". Tekken and SC have NO respect from most TO and from all the fucking Stream Monsters.
Seriously, ban the fucking Stream Monsters. They do nothing but troll and bring negativity to the table. IT'S NOT NEEDED.
Can't have any game that isn't SF4/ MvC3 on stream without dozens of retards going "LOL THIS GAME SUCKS GTFO". It's tiring. It's stupid.
It's normal that each game has its own community, its own fans, players, websites. Doesn't mean there should be segregation between them!
There are TO that make different communities work together for one event. That's the way to go. Make the communities work side by side!
By doing so, you're improving communication, exposure, and respect. Don't do everything by yourself.
Not only is it more difficult, it also means you risk not respecting what each game's community expects from an event (wrong rules, etc).
For YEARS the Tekken community has asked EVO to change matches to Best of 5 instead of Best of 3. They never listened.
Don't get me wrong, EVO is great. But insisting on doing thing "your way" instead of the way a game's community would like it...
The Fighting Game Community needs more majors, and the majors need more variety and respect towards each game.
