BurntToShreds Interviews:
Guyperson-First of all, are you a guy or a girl?-My name isn't Galperson, so I'm pretty sure I'm a guy.
-Your avatar is of a character from the Touhou Project games. Do you actually play said games, or do you mostly look at the fan works?-Never played the games, though if I think I would be good at them. At the very least I wouldn't die in easy modo. Okay, I wouldn't need a continue in easy modo. Not two at least.
As for fan works, that's where my real connection to the series is. I don't really go actively looking for Touhou stuff, but there's some good comics, music videos, and Touhou M-1 Grand Prix is just great. The fan-made games are also pretty cool looking, but I haven't played those either, though I watch a lot of let's players who've played them.
-While we're on the subject of things from Japan, what animes do you watch, if any? Could you give us some recommendations?-I mostly prefer things that are either funny, actiony, or a mix of the two, though there are the occasional ones that are neither yet still interesting. And animu/manga about food; I've learned more about cooking from them than from Food Network.
Recommendations? Well, for what's new, One Piece and Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai are the only ones I'm watching, but I hear Blue Exorcist is good. Toriko is also a good anime but eclipsed by the manga. As for not so new stuff, there's plenty, but G Gundam is the first to come to mind. But it's all based on what the person I'm recommending to likes, and that they haven't already watched it. Maybe you'd like Now and Then, Here and Now.
-Do you have any hobbies that you would like to tell us about? Do you do any artwork, or something similar?-For hobbies, I guess next to sleeping, most of my time is spent reading useless stuff on the internet. When I get large portions of free time, I'll eventually start watching as many old movies and shows as I can. Some hold up against the test of time, some not so much. And I guess I collect lots of stuffed animals, but I can't help it; they keep giving me that "Take me home with you" look!
No artwork/etc, sorry. But I'm told I'm pretty funny (I'd agree) and that I have a beautiful voice (I wouldn't agree), I guess I could end up doing something with that if I wanted, but I spend to much time on college work and watching movies/etc to do so.
-You mentioned that you like to watch old movies and TV shows. How old are we talking about? 10 years, 50 years? Could you please give us some examples?-Well, silent movies are just a little too far back for me. Aside from that, the time period is after "movies have sound" but before "movies are color filtered Michael Baysplosions". I don't remember the name, I think it was Little Shop On the Corner, but it stands out among good black/white movies. Something to notice about old movies is that since they hadn't mastered camera angles/tricks, they relied on having a good soundtrack and plot, rather than Michael Baysplosions. I mean there are some good movies nowadays, but they aren't easily found on TV/internet, major points off for that.
-So what kind of stuffed animals do you collect? Are they animu plushies or just teddy bears and stuff?-The only thing close I have to an animu plushie is Garfield, who is currently under a stuffed Corgi. Some are beany-babies, some are hush puppies, I don't even know what Toby is since her tags have long since faded away/ripped. Oh, wait, I do have a Hamtaro plushie! The rubber alligator isn't really a plushie, but I think it counts. Umm, which stands out the most... A bunny with no tail (never had one), a PANK puppy with no nose (lost it), and a football (yes, a football plushie)
-Last question; Do you think that the world would be better off without Facebook?-I wouldn't know, I set Adblock to block all facebook related media. No like buttons, no sign in to get free points, no nothin'. But unless it were to be replaced with something worse, then yes, it leaving the planet would be good.
