My mom bought two chickens and four baby chicks the other day. The four baby chicks stay in our house, so they won't get cold. Today they've been excessively loud, so my mom checked on them, and looked into their box. She told me that one of them had died. I asked her what she did with it, and she said she threw it in the trash.

I'm not the most compassionate towards animals, but what the hell. I yelled at her to bury it outside and not to throw it in the trash, so she fished it out by it's leg, and tried to give it to me and told me to bury it outside with my little brother if it meant that much. I was so disgusted, I just ran to my room. I can't believe she'd even try to make us bury a dead baby animal that she put into the trash, as though it was a broken object..

Not sure what to say to this because I have grown up with tons of animals. I have buried some and thrown away some. Sometimes it just depends on their size or age. Once had to help dig a hole for a horse. That was a pain.

Whoa a horse? I thought people generally cremated animals that big?

The only animals I haven't buried are fish because...well I can't keep them alive here for some reason and they're usually half decomposed when I finally am able to find their bodies in my fuckhuge tank. And wild birds that we find the stray cats killed or died for whatever reason, but mostly because we don't want to run the risk of another animal digging them up and getting sick with whatever disease they may have died from.

But all my pets have had proper burials. It just feels wrong not to
