When I was about eleven I used to tip my head to the sides when in the shower - I didn't purposely do it to get wax out of my ear, I just had this weird misconception that I was helping to clean them that way.

After a while I started to get random dizzy spells where I would lose all sense of vertigo and have to sit down or end up falling over. After going to the doctor, they did a CAT scan on me (definitely not the most entertaining experience) and found out I had water behind my eardrums. Thankfully it was severe enough where I only had to take pills to get rid of the excess water. If things had been different, I would have had to get tubes in my ears to drain the water.

I get water in my ears all the time when I shower, but I try my best to drain them by tilting my head the other way. I also try to get the water out with a q-tip--NOT using a ton of pressure, mind. Just gently swabbing to soak up some of the water.

I pour a capfull of hydrogen peroxide in, let it bubble until its rather warm and drain it into a napkin. Works rather well.

That's generally the accepted way to do it.

Apparently for some people they get such a buildup of earwax that it requires surgery to remove. I didn't even know about that until I met some people entering the military who had to have the surgery at MEPS prior to the physicals.

i know a girl who got swimmer's ear this way

her ears swelled up like crazy and she had this nasty black earwax and it was really awful

and that's why you don't use the shower to clean your ears

I am now terrified. I let water spray in my ears in the shower because I use it as a way to clean my ear piercings, never tried to directly clean earwax out that way. I thought water was one of those "completely safe unless you inhale it" things.

I've had tubes as a child. I have mentally suppressed most of what happened.

You guys make me nervous about going underwater ever again.

As long as you take precautions against swimmer's ear, if you are even prone to it, you'll be fine. Most people's ears drain normally and you'll never need to worry. Some people's don't always drain normally, and may need to put drops in their ears or do whatever else (Tuxedo Mask stands on his head lol) to get them to drain

If your ear feels sloshy after a day, go to the doctor and you won't get a massive ear infection

And yeah don't spray the showerhead in your ears that is just not a good idea in general

If you need water to clean your ears wet the q-tip or something






When I was in kindgergarten my school didn't have a sandbox...it had a pebblebox. Because apparently they had issues with cats using the playground as a litterbox or something. Anyway.

My friends were playing a game and I 'died' so thy buried me in these tiny pebbles, one of which got in my ear. It felt like I could just get it out with my finger, so I tried but ended up jamming it much further down my ear canal than I wanted to, to where it was impossible to get out. We had to go to like 3 different doctors before we found someone who could get the stupid thing out without me freaking out. He basically stuck one of those water things that dentists have in my ear and the water pressure popped the rock out. It also felt wonderfully soothing on my poor red, swollen ear.

Use the ear cleaning solution or just wet a q-tip.

So I just got asked out by this guy that I know.
I am really not sure how I feel about it. I said yes to see where it goes, but my emotions are all over the place right now. He told me that he liked someone else just a while ago, so I don't know what's up now. I'm not even sure that I like him this way, but I guess I can try this out. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Calm down and take it easy. Don't feel obligated to like him either, just be honest with him and yourself. It doesn't hurt to go on a few dates though, you'll probably have fun!

Someone pinched my booty at a party last night. I couldn't figure out who it was, so it could've been a guy or a girl, but I'm gonna take it as a compliment regardless.
