BurntToShreds Interviews: Kamak
Now right off the bat, are you male or female?
That information is classified and only available to those that outrank me.
... Wait? You're a Corporal? I'm so sorry, please forgive my rudeness, sir.
But yes, I have a Private Johnson.
Hmm. Now, how did you come up with your username? It sounds like the name of a wizard or something.
Oh boy, this is a long one.
On a REALLY old forum I went to (back in 2003, if you can believe it), there was an RPing section where we had to have an account with the same name we used for our character. I had come up with a name for myself by taking the first part of a name of a character I liked and making a palindrome of it (So I had "Tam" and made "Tammat" but shortened it to Tamat). One of my friends wanted to join and wanted a name like mine, and we devised some cliche "twin" bullshit and had him named "Kamak" (since he likes names with K for characters he plays as). He ended up leaving the RP a few months later and I had to keep building my character up and running both accounts (since I was on a quest with him when he left).
So usually I run around on sites with the name Tamat, but occasionally, if I'm feeling bored with using that name (or I didn't want to be recognized) I use Kamak.
And now I feel like people are going to find out what sites I've been on. *sweatdrop*
And for the record, Tamat was a wizard that excelled in lightning magic and Kamak moved shit with his mind.
I see. Now, how did you come to join the AZ forums in the first place?
Well, I've been following Katie since she was on DA, and was actually surprised to see her suddenly stop making comics. It took me about a year to figure out that she got her own site, and I mostly just read her comics. About a year ago, I decided to venture into the forums (I think I misclicked) and started reading the threads discussing the comic and seeing all of the edits. It took me until about May to decide to join, because I wanted to make edits. I think I've only made two in that time, but I've been having a lot more fun hanging around in the rest of the forums, since some of the other forums I hang around are very... conservative (they're really anal about being prim and proper all the time since there's children around, which is fine but it's stifling at times).
So what kind of videogames do you usually play?
I usually play Pokemon, Zelda (been loving the tons of games released this year and nostagia fagging over ALttP all over again), and generally Nintendo stuff. I finally got my 360 working last Christmas and borrowed a bunch of games from my bro, but I really haven't had the time to even complete any of them (besides Portal 2, but I finished that the day I got it). Really, I've been getting a lot more mileage out of my DS and 3DS in the past year or so since I can take it with me to college and play it during breaks.
I'm so behind on my gaming though... I still have games that I got 2 years ago that I haven't even started playing. Well, I guess that's college for you.
So you can't give away your location, huh? Asking us to disregard it? Well that's too bad. We have to know. What country do you live in, and do you like it there?
I live in the United States, Texas specifically. I like the area I live in. Texas gets a pretty bad rap for being full of idiotic bible-thumping bigots, but, for the most part, Texans are pretty mellow. However, there are some small towns scattered around the area that I don't enjoy going to. Went to school in one of those towns as a kid. Not too great a childhood when people think you worship the devil when you play Pokemon and have epilepsy and autism. Other than these places, people are very nice, even if they disagree with you intellectually. I've actually had more problems with intolerant atheists here than with fundies.
The biggest problem in Texas is the heat though. If anything would force me to move out of Texas, it'd be the fact that I don't get to enjoy being outside during the summer because of the heat. Otherwise, it's got (fairly) mild winters and the terrain is varied in all directions I can travel (plains, desert, mountains, beach, and forest), so there's always stuff to do. It's definitely an interesting state, to say the least. Yeah, I hate how people judge Texas by all the stereotypes. Let's wrap this up. If you could eliminate one website from existence, which one would you choose and why?
Hmm... Out of all of them, probably IGN. I visit the site out of morbid curiousity and find that all of the asshats populate it. Maybe it's because the sections have no consistency and so it leads to bias, but I really just don't like how editorials are handled (softhanded on the Microsoft section, digging for scraps and controversy on the Nintendo section).
However, if IGN died, the asshats would likely flock to another congregating place, and I wouldn't wish that plague on anyone (except maybe gamespot), so there's no real way to win.
