I have been tearing through the dresden files at a RIDICULOUS pace. I bought three of the books and finished them before the week was up. The humor keeps me stifling my laughter at 11:00 at night, and the pure badass moments amaze me.

Oh man, Calvin and Hobbes was the best thing when I was a kid.

I go back today and find all the jokes that I didn't get back then.

I love reading the Archie comics. They always have something funny in them.

You're welcome to borrow it but you're probably a million miles away.

So after I finish Knut Nærum's Ø, I think I'll read a book by Terry Pratchett. Anyone got a book by him to recommend, that is not too long, as I just want to see if he is something I want to read more of?

Speaking of Comics, it's kinda sad that Pearls Before Swine is the only funny new comic left. Everything else is either OLO KIDS ARE DUMB AND RAISIN DEM IS HARD!, HEY GUIS LETZ RIP OF FAR SAIDE OLO or OLO GUIS SECRT LIEVS OF PETS!!!

The Discworld series are intended as a series of standalone books, but there are multiple separate story lines which focus on different characters throughout the series. I'd recommend starting on one of those. You'll miss some references you can only get by reading them in the order they were written in, but The Colour of Magic isn't his best work, so for your intentions I'd recommend either Mort, Pyramids or Guards! Guards!, depending on which of their subjects you like best (you'll have to look 'em up yourself :P).

Guards! Guards! is the one for you - Captain Vimes is probably the best character Pratchett has ever written, and he makes his first appearance here.

Just read all the Vimes books, they're not that big. When you get to Nightwatch have a bookgasm.
