Can you harvest vines with shears or something, or are they unobtainable outside of creative mode?

Guys, I have a question.
So I downloaded another minecraft to play the 1.8 prerelease in, but there's still only one program file. If I replace the .jar, will it affect both of my minecrafts, or just the new one? And if it will affect both, how can I only get it on the copy?

That's now how it works. the exe you download interacts with the .minecraft folder if you wanna keep your 1.7.3 stuff just back up that and move it somewhere else and the game will make a new .minecraft folder, then replace the .jar in the new one.

I don't know. I never touch proletariats and downloading shit.

Wow. I'm barely in to my first world in 1.8 and I think I might have found my first stronghold.

Sorry, topaz. That's an abandoned mine. Still pretty awesome, though. Strongholds are made of stone bricks, and there is no wood when it comes to a stronghold. 'Cept in Libraries. But you might find some cool stuff in there, like melon seeds, or even a rare chance at a diamond or two, maybe.

Pretty sure it's just an abandoned mineshaft.

Abandoned mines are still awesome. And creepy. They're like the House of Leaves.
