"We had zero rules"?! CN, I am sorry that you are blind and unable to see the big thread that said "*****RULES, ADVISORIES, AND YOU (READ before posting)*****". They were not always enforced correctly, yes, but they existed. You cannot blame the new moderators for doing their job and enforcing the rules.
It's not like we lock threads at the first off-topic post, either. Sometimes you guys have three freakin' pages of off-topic stuff before one of us steps in to tell you to go back to talking about what the thread is made for, because there is nothing wrong with having a little fun. But we're not going to sit there and look at topics drown in pointless stuff and pat you on the back for a job well done. As moderators, we are going to moderate. That is all.
If you want to talk about something, do it in the relevant thread. If the relevant thread does not exist, either post in "All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for", or create a new thread.
