I haven't actually played RE4. Why is 5 so bad in comparison?

>Chris Redfield now changed from normal looking, to more 'roids than the Cole Train
>Las Plagas, new and kind of cool from RE4, used to make Uroboros.
>Uroboros is the cliche "Kill off everyone but those strong enough to endure Uroboros in our New World Order."
>Fucking Umbrella again
>Wesker now has superpowers
>RE5 hopped onto the Africa bandwagon of 2009.
>Inventory system went from coolio attache caste to a d-pad dependant thing.
>Wesker takes too daisies long to die
>Battle inside an active volcano. (Read the same thing that people need special suits just to be on top)

All my opinion really. Oh, and it's not Leon S. Kennedy.

EDIT: Oh wait, I misred as "haven't played RE5" lemme add the cool stuff.

>Las Plagas, for once not T-Virus and Umbrella are the big bads again.
>Leon S. Kennedy.
>Attache Case system
>No "HURP DURP TERR'ISM"
>AI that can be told to sit in a box until the danger's over.
>The Striker is actually awesome
>The Communication cutscenes are kind of interesting.
>Bosses have some kind of backstory and not random "lets see what happens when we throw together four different animals"

and stuff I can't think of right now because it's been a few years since I've played it.

edit 2: and Leon looks like David Bowie

I can understand the rest, despite never having really played the story, but

Aight son. 4 was pretty good but 5's gameplay mechanics were a lot better. The degrade on the inventory was pretty irritating though.

Well it seemed like a bandwagon to me at the time. Of course this was when I pretty much only looked at commercialized games and took G4 as good advice.

Speaking of gameplay mechanics, what disappointed me is that they didn't include this really cool thing I read about in a gaming magazine. What would happen is that if Chris stood outside too long, then he would start to hallucinate and see mirages. I thought that was awesome and was looking for it in the finished game but it never happened.

There was a lot of different stuff cut, Irving was going to have a more important role, Uroborus was going to be more dangerous, there was going to be a merchant guy again that didn't like you if you looted houses, Sheva would be an important NPC, etc

After reading the RE5 beta articles do you know how much more I would've enjoyed the game if they kept most of ideas in?

Even the Merchant, maaaaaaan ;_;7

I abused the fuck out of the inventory system in 5 though, you could instant reload if you opened it, selected your ammo and selected your gun, and you could even do this during melee combos when your char was invincible.

In RE4 opening the inventory would pause the game and you could reload from there, combine herbs, and you could do it at any time except for cutscenes.

Oh and in RE4 you could increase your max health. GUESS WHAT YOU CANT DO IN RE5.

Meh, at least the small, in game inventory causes it to be not as hand holdy. Adds a bit of strategem.

I'd like to see Sheva more, if not only to develop her character more, but also cause she gives me a stiffy

Can you not do this on Professional mode or was my game glitching out?

I just remembered that my stepbrother gave me his copy of the first Resident Evil for Gamecube.

He bought it, he was borrowing my Gamecube, so thought he'd give it to me.

So now I'm playing through it for the first time.
