But then you would have to worry about flying Zombies.

Uh, I was actually talking about putting a roof on the walls Exeres was talking of hiding behind. And then you know, staying under it.

Fallout bunker with a garden to provide limitless food?

I think you all might be missing a crucial matter: People are stupid.

I'm not saying any kind of fortified position idea is stupid, I'm saying other people ASIDE FROM YOU hiding out or protecting yourself is stupid. And if the time comes when somebody else is outside your perimeter and DOES have a common understanding of how your defenses work, they can get in. And then potentially proceed to fuck your shit up.

Have to think about protecting yourself from selfish human survivors as well.

So... fallout shelter with a lock and it's hidden? Keep in mind that with the zombies hanging around, they have limited time to figure how to get in. You gotta keep moving if you haven't found a safe spot.

To me it's always seemed like a bad idea to stay put during a zombie apocalypse unless you have a self-sustaining fortress. The idea of allowing chance for a group of zombies to amass around me just seems like a bad plan. Keep moving, stay quiet.

Granted, difficult to achieve, but imo pretty much ideal.

I wonder if/when people will start to build bunkers like this in case of a zombie apocalypse. Really, if you have a bunker, and enough food to last a handful of years, or however long a zombie apocalypse will last, then you're set. Just go down there, maybe take a few friends or family with you, chill out for a while, then go back into the surface world.

There's already a "Zombie Task Force" in the Southern U.S. It's like one big group linked together from State to State. I think there's currently 7 or 8 of them with their own Task Force sub-teams now?

And they've been training their families on how to deal with a potential zombie apocalypse. I'm not shitting you, I watched a documentary about these crazies and they teach their 5-8 year old kids how to take down a zombie with things other than guns and swords.

... I should find that video again.

Nobody is going to build bunkers in case of zombie apocalypses. Really people, see the last couple of pages for why they are biologically impossible.

But a nuclear fallout shelter would serve just as well I think.

I imagine 28 days / weeks later zombies are the most plausible ones?

It seems to me like they don't go against nature as much as the other types (I'm looking at you George A. Romero)

Dunno, I can't remember if I actually saw that one. Google tells me it's some sort of rage-inducing virus?
You know, that does sound like an actual plausibility and more scary, since it could mean they'd still have some or most higher thinking and might even be able to operate weaponry.

Yeah, it was basically a rage virus which originally spread from a monkey.

They couldn't use weapons but they could identify people, in 28 weeks later, an infected father of two kids managed to recognize his daughter when she called out to him.

Not to mention the zombies actually require muscle, food and such like a normal person. They just didn't have much brain fuction to actually eat though, which led them to starve.

I love it when people cite Cracked as a reliable source.

I don't know, I found their list of why zombies would die off very fast to be fairly accurate. Especially when it came to the heat/cold spectrum of things. The stupid zeds would be jerky in a day here.
