oh wait i forgot one more thing. small potions now only heal 50 (instead of 100) and big potions only heal 100 (instead of 200).

hahahahah so funny unba. but the game has been changed drastically. the potion sickness makes the game much harder, not to mention they nerfed the actual potions themselves, chests which now need keys to open which they didn't before, hellstone now drops lava, etc.

the game was just more fun before the update.

I read the dev blog and they made the game super hard with this update because apparently someone emailed them that the game was "too easy"

fuck that person

Few good things, though. Bats and Meteor Heads have been nerfed a lot. Bats are half as strong as they were before, health and attack wise, and meteor heads are extremely slow now, and have a third of what their health was. Only downside is that they are pretty strong when they do hit.

With Hellstone, you just gotta be smart with it. Just build some platforms and dig some spots underneath it so it flows into the hole and you don't get burned. With the keys, it makes dungeons a bit harder, and kind of more worth it. Not just storm the place and raid everything, you gotta be patient, get some keys, and then get everything.

Also, I love the Loot All/Deposit All options. And the locked Hotbar. And beer. Tipsy is a pretty cool status affect. Increases Melee, Decreases defense. With strong armor, the defense drop usually has no affect. So its just some increased melee.

Honestly, I don't like some of the new things, but it isnt game ruiningg in my opinion. Just a little unnerving. But it just means you cant go barging in spamming potions and collecting stuff you shouldnt be getting just yet. Kind of, balances the game, in a sense.

I think the potion thing would only work if (since it makes Skeletron daisies near impossible even if you do have the best items) would be to release tonnes of new, better items, too.

It's kind of like if WoW (I'm assuming, never actually played) released new, really difficult dungeons that required, say, level 120, but decided not to raise the level cap along with it.

Also, another thing that you can do when fighting a boss.

Make a small shack, and put a bed in there.

Boom, never have to worry about dieing and missing out on the boss. You're just right there.

Works with EoW and EoC.

So, please, there is no need to complain about missing out on bosses.

I'm not complaining about missing out on them (we don't even miss out???), I'm saying it's sort of a dick move to make healing less effective without giving us some other way to deal with the boss.

And arguing that the boss battle is fine because you can cheat by abusing spawn points is silly, because that's obviously not how the bosses were meant to be fought.

I think it's more the fact that you're not supposed to be able to beat a boss after, say, a week of playing.

I think in general, most games should have one sort of challenge that isn't aimed at the average player, but that only a skilled and dedicated player can beat. Makes things much more rewarding.

Yeah, I agree there fore sure. But the problem here is that playing for more than a week doesn't help much, because it's entirely possible to have all the best items, stock up on all the potions ever, and just generally do everything there is to do.
Granted, one week would take a lot of dedication, but what's important is that as is, no matter how long you spend stocking up weapons, armor, etc, you outright can't get items that will bw useful, especially not with the new potion cooldown/effectiveness.

Ehhh, you can do a lot of crap in a week.
Especially if you know other people who play the game and can offer advice and items.
Going into it raw with no help is pretty rough, but rewarding.
