I just finished to read Asimov's "Nemesis", and I found it very enjoyable, although the ending disappointed me a bit

Any of you know Mafalda?
It's an Argentinian newspaper comic that was published from 1964 to 1973. It's mostly cynical/optimistic observations made by children about international politics during those years. I really like it, it gives another point of view of the Vietnam War, the Israeli-palestinian conflict, the Beatles, the Third-World, the feminism...

I have this complete collection of all 1937 strips, it weighs 9 pounds.

A while ago I started reading The Catcher in the Rye and although I'm really only about three chapters in, I feel like nothing has happened so far. Am I just judging it too soon? If the rest of the book is going to be much of the same, I'm not sure if I'll continue with it. I want to though since it's a classic (and I like the writing style), but at the same time I don't want to read a book I don't enjoy if I don't have to.

the last ten books I read were all Discworld books, I'm reading Ghost Story now. It's weird to switch to a different writing style (Jim Butcher's) after getting so used to Terry Pratchett's.

Has anyone else here heard of/read any of these three books:

Haydn of Mars
Sebastian of Mars
Queen of Mars

because it's a really neat, albeit short little trilogy that was very fun to read. I found the last one years ago in an airport bookstore and loved it, found out there were two prequels, and only just managed to get them and read them a couple months ago.

Catcher in the Rye is about a whiny hypocritical bitch who learns nothing throughout the story, does nothing throughout the story, nobody around him does anything throughout the story, and the story itself does nothing.

No, you're not judging it too soon. The entire book is exactly the same.

The only reason it's regarded as a classic is because at the time it was a bit risqué.

The story itself is as shallow and bland as a puddle of sepia colored paint in a sepia colored room with no windows and one light.

Whoa.

Now I'm glad I didn't get too far into it. Thanks man.

Yes, it sounds very clever to talk about how awful a book you haven't read is.
