Remember my not-quite-UTI problem? The one that gets really, really unbelievably bad with dehydration or exertion?
I finally worked up the courage to mention it to my mother again, and she scheduled an appointment for me at the gynecologist (no idea why that instead of a urologist) and today I had an exam.
They still can't find anything wrong with me. He told me it was probably just normal and I could see a urologist, but it was probably nothing.

This isn't nothing, it interferes with my life and I am constantly worrying about it when I should be enjoying other things. I go to the movies- did I drink too much before, will I have to go to the bathroom? Band camp- no bathroom access, but I have to stay hydrated. Road trips. The hiking trip I took a week ago- got dehydrated on the trail, didn't have water, couldn't enjoy the rest of the trail and waterfall, desperately trying to control my body- then it ended up screwing up the rest of that entire day, even once I got water it didn't go away, and I had no appetite the rest of the day and had to keep trying to get my body balanced.

I just...don't know what to do anymore.

that stuff usually happens to men over 40.

I'm sure there is meds for that. Just keep doctoring until you find it, that's a real problem.

I think I have the same problem. Even if I don't drink anything, I have to pee all the time. I can never make it through a movie without going at least once, usually 2 or more times.
I went to the doctor and they took blood and urine samples, said there was nothing wrong with me, and sent me on my way.
Fuck. Guess I can't ever do anything lol

Nah, for me it's that I get really bad UTI symptoms- really bad intense burning need to pee, except I don't actually have to go, and it burns and doesn't go away when I actually go to the bathroom. It gets really bad when I get dehydrated and the only way to fix it is to drink a ton of water, which makes me actually have to pee for real. It's all but crippling when it happens, and even when it doesn't I spend my days worrying, trying to keep my body balanced, which makes me have to go to the bathroom a lot more often than normal, too.

I guess I'll give it a shot and go to the urologist- my last chance at finding something wrong. And they'll probably tell me the same thing, that it's something physiologically normal to do with dehydration. But I'm pretty sure it's not normal and most people don't have this problem, correct me if I'm wrong.

do you sleep enough? lack of sleep can cause dehydration symptoms

I sleep enough, eat mostly healthy, don't drink much soda or caffeine.
I'm mostly talking about legitimate dehydration as a cause though- balance salty foods with water, make sure I drink enough on a normal basis, and really watch it when it's hot out and I'm doing stuff. Those are the times that cause me the most trouble- marching band, hiking, even standing around outside in the heat for extended periods of time. But salty foods have been known to cause it too. And sugary foods combined with heat- like kool-aid instead of water.

I swear this is so complicated aaaaarghh

low blood sugar perhaps? you feel dehydrated, and drink more water than you need to. Thus Grylls-Ade.

Nope, the water is what helps, not what causes it.

Thanks for trying to help though

I apologize if this question seems prying and feel free not to answer it Boredom.

Is your pee coming out clear?

If it isn't, you're not hydrated enough. The less yellow it is, the more hydrated you are.

Yeah, like I said, it happens mostly when I get dehydrated, so yeah, when it does happen, it's usually darker.
I already know about the dehydration. What I want to know is what's wrong to make it happen at all, and how to make it stop, because I can't live my life worrying compulsively about if I'm staying that perfect level of hydrated not to set it off and also not to have to pee every five minutes.
I'm not talking dying of thirst dehydrated here. This can trigger after just being in the heat for a while. And I've got band camp coming up. In Mississippi, where it is even hotter than it is here.
I've even woken up in the morning before with a mild case of whatever this is, just from the night.

Thanks for trying to help, though, guys. I mean it.

Seeing the psychiatrist today was the biggest waste of my time. He's a total cunt and he hates me.

Maybe councilling would be better? He may have been a cognitive behavioural therapist, their approach is pretty agressive, and maybe that's why he seemed to hate you? I don't think a psychiatrist would continue working with a patient who they hated, usually they get patients with whom they can't empathise/make a connection reassigned. But obviously I wasn't there so...

I'd recommend person centred councilling, but obviously it's different for each person. You can read about each approach on Wikipedia, but the objective of person centred therapy is to establish and provide a therapeutic bond. It doesn't work towards the treatment of psychological illness however. At least, not directly.
