I noticed there wasn't a 40k Thread, so this can go for all the games, and since there isn't a "General Game" area, tabletop is welcome too.

"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly die.Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse. To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

I assume maybe a few people picked up Retribution at the least from the sale, so here we are.

If you just got it you'll notice you can add badges to use in game, instead of the ones provided in the Army Painter, I found a huge set here http://www.mediafire.com/?hm8h92ukqbe4umx

So, to start, maybe we can do

Favorite Race:
Custom Factions?:
Favorite Unit:
Favorite Strategy:
Favorite Quote: (40k is rife with em')

Mine would be Orks
I created a faction called the Silva Boyz
Favorite troops from the Ork's would probably be the Flash Gitz/Kommandos
Strategy? Dakka. More Dakka. And then? Some more Dakka sprinkled with Kommando Shotgun Sauce.

I haven't played any of the video games, but I really like the table-top

Favorite race/army is probably the Imperial Guard. I just like the idea of there being this massive galaxy with horrible monsters and demons and shit and you've still got regular vanilla humans who've still got a shot. They've also got the coolest vehicles.

Not sure what you mean by factions, but I've always liked the whole gas-mask look that the Armageddon Steel Legion and Death Korps of Krieg have going on. I'm also really into the Tau, and the Guard army I'm working on is essentially a regiment of deserters that went and joined the Tau empire.

Favorite unit is a toughie. I'm basically in love with the entirety of the Guard vehicle selection. Probably a toss-up between the Vendetta gunship and the various Leman Russ'

I'm with you. I basically just put everything I've got on the field, hope I get the first turn, let 'em have it with both barrels, and hope I've killed enough of them that they won't tear me a new one in close combat. I've had some fun outflanking my Scout Sentinels too.

I love Kommandos, table top and Dawn of War 2. They got so much fucking infiltration range it's crazy.

I've always thought it looked interesting, but never had the funds or time to get into it.

I'm a big fan of Tyranids. Hordes of expendable units swarming across the battle field, delicious.
Kind of made my own brood for the Tyranids, not too sure what to name it yet.
Strategy? Pretty much rush with gaunts with warriors backing up as synapse. Hive Tyrant with wings flies to small groups of units Psychic Screaming them to death. Genestealers run in to various squads and fuck shit up.
As for quotes? I'll have to think of one later. It's pretty late here.

i don't own dow2 and haven't played it but i believe it is a piece of shit and you're retarded and dumb

Also I used to play Necrons until I got bored of them, I regret not picking a race I could customize more like spess mahrens or chaos.

The last models that I put together were some custom chaos imperial guard made out of imperial guard and lizard men bits. I gave them chanswords on poles that I made out of poles and chainswords. Not all of them match because I ran out and had to use ork chainswords but it looks okay because they are chaos.

My quote is from the guant's ghosts series of romantic novels
-"Fething feth those fething motherfethers gak gak feth, for Tanith."

I was hanging with some friends the other day, and his brother had a bunch of these Lizardmen guys. Guess they're called Skinks, but anyways, I was making little armies out of them. Other than that, they seem pretty cool.

Lizardmen are in Warhammer, not 40k. Space Dorfs aren't official, and the Skaven are gone too.

Ahh. Alright. Well, out of the 40k armies, I like the Tyranid guys; the weird white aliens of evil awesomeness.

I own DoW2 and Retribution and I think they're both fantastic, though I really would have prefferred a DoW2 length game for each of the races in Retribution. Beggars can't be choosers though (not to mention it would've been an even longer wait for the game). Favorite races are probably Orks, then Tyranids, then Tau, then Space Marines. Orks are just so hilariously dumb, Tyranids are terrifying, Tau are cool and Space Marines are pretty neat-o. I really want to get into tabletop but I just don't have the cheddar for it. I'd love to have a ranged Tyranid army. If it's anything like it was in Retribution that shit would be fierce (and according to my friend who plays tabletop it is pretty sweet).

Can I add another question? Favorite weapon type. I really dig Flamers and Heavy Bolters (any sort of cover fire weapon really).

I prefer DoW over DoW 2 because of the fact that there was more variety in the campaigns depending on who you chose. DoW Retribution just has the same exact missions just with different enemies. The events were different like the Nid's were just kill kill kill kill, but it was weird how the orks fought the orks (especially in that ork convoy missions, no explanation). I know how Freebooterz are orks excluded from clans and such, but the warboss proved he could just tell other orks to join him (like he did in the first mission). I also preferred DoW for the size of armies that could be made. The lack of base building and the fact that you're confined to a small group (how can you call a 3 man team a squad? squads are generally 4 guys) just bothered me. It REALLY didn't make sense for the orks to have small groups. At least the Nid's and IG have large groups. I figured. I'm prolly just being nitpicky, but big bases and big armies just makes more sense in a universe like Warhammer. Don't get me wrong, its just little details that I didn't like, cause overall I love DoW2. I also noticed the heavy influences from Company of Heroes put into Retribution (overwatch/Creeping artillery, lots of borrowed sounds, IG sounds like British troops) and I thought that was pretty neat.
