I've already said I'm going. But apparently when you say "I need an emergency appointment" they think you're okay enough to wait over a week.

Call tehm back, tell them you're in a lot of pain, have a sunken jaw and are coughing up blood.

If they don't get you in sooner based on that then they're not living up to their responsibilities.

Yeah you should really call them back today and explain and tell them you need an appointment as soon as remotely possible.

Just go in and bother them for the appointment in person.

If that doesn't work, you could try a different dentist.

My toe is healing up seemingly nicely, most of the scabbing has come off, revealing that where the nail meets the skin, there's a small chunk missing and I can see the skin underneath.

I had this after I broke my thumb and the cast was taken off. The nail after that decided to fall off completely (not without taking up a fight and still hanging on an inch on the right side) and a new one growing underneath it. It was looking weird, feeling weird and was kinda awesome.
