AWKWARD ZOMBIE

Actually fighting the zombies is so mainstream. All the cool kids get themselves infected on purpose.

Oh, sweet genius. A car is a super bad idea (a pun, seeing as Superbad was super bad) because of everything to take into account. Do you have enough gas, or do you know a safe, reliable place to get more? Do you or someone with you know how to repair it? Do you have supplies and tools for it? Are the roadways you're taking going to be clear? Will it be strong and powerful enough to drive over zombies and, more importantly, rough terrain?
Pardon me for out-walking them.

I fail to see how it's a bad idea. Roads closed? Off-road. I live in a desert, there is plenty of ground that is not asphalt. As for where to go? There's an armory or Edward's Air Force Base. I can take my pick between a tank or letting the military clean up. Probably the base since I don't want to be in town when the B-2's are inevitably deployed. There are other bases throughout the Southern California area too, like Riverside.

Let's see how a horde does against constant carpet bombing and strafing runs by Predators and Reapers.

Well, a lot of explosive power has to do with shockwave and shrapnel damage, which won't do much to zombies. It will be devastating, absolutely, and the debris would do something, but the fact remains that a clean-up crew is still needed. Also, as for the base, you have to take into account all the people that have the same idea and are faster/closer than you.
Of course, this all is relative to the size of the breakout. I can chill on my roof with a crowbar and a .22 rifle for a few days and ride out the worst of it if it's class 1 or maybe 2.

You have absolutely no idea what an explosion's shockwave does to the human body do you? Those action movies where people ride the explosion? Would never happen. They'd be torn apart by the force.

You greatly overestimate the chances and durability of what is effectively a human body with no mind or defenses against an organized military.

Yeah, I get that the shockwave would rip apart nearby zombies, especially decayed ones, but the fact remains that with explosives, it takes a lot more to kill zombies than people.
The military would be unreliable in this situation since a) they haven't fought it before, b) they wouldn't immediately recognize it for what it is, again, since they haven't fought it before, and c) zombies are terrifying! When a nice controlled burst of bullets slips right through an enemy's torso and doesn't even slow him up, that's scary. And when their flamethrowers, grenades, and machine guns are generated close to useless, ranks are gonna start to shatter. Period. That's what terror does to people, even trained professionals.

Really. You think that flamethrowers, grenades, and guns are useless? Are you fucking kidding me? A rotting corpse is not more durable than a living one, which isn't durable in the first place you realize.

Come back when you actually understand what weapons do rather than claiming they're weak.

Here we go...
Flamethrowers are designed to burn the skin of foolish humans and also pretty much everything else. Once the recipient of the fiery goodness falls into shock, the rest is a cake walk. Unfortunately, the only way to kill a zombie with it is to fry its brain, which can take a while, and then there's hundreds of them. They would cause zombie problems, but they wouldn't be effective enough to be practical.
Grenades, like land mines, are intended to grievously wound over kill, since a wounded soldier takes up time, cheddar and space, crippling the enemy. Again, zombies don't wound. Direct explosion damage or shrapnel-through-the-skull is the only way to kill them with one.
Machine guns, arguably the most effective infantry weapon, is pointless since the point is to inflict massive body damage to several soldiers at once. Due to its wasteful and inefficient nature, attempting to kill a horde of zombies with them is futile. 80% of all the shots are either going to miss or hit the target's limbs and torso. All this is pointless when a few hardened, trained individuals with simple carbines are going to fare much, much better.
As for that fellow talking about zombies not being real, so? We can have a rousing hypothetical discussion just for the hell of it, can't we? Don't be a killjoy.

Of course they don't. I'm arguing about what those weapons do to human bodies, not zombies in particular. Who gives a fuck about walking corpses, I'm trying to get someone to understand the damage weapons are capable of doing to anything.

everybody should be implanted with a small explosive device that severs the spinal chord when detonated. In case of a zombie outbreak. And everyone should be cremated after a funeral.

So, my zombie plan, again, is:
-Take essentials, such as water, orange juice (so I don't get scurvy), beef jerky, granola bars, a flashlight, batteries, a multi-tool, a hand-cranked emergency radio, a cell-phone and wall charger (Google Maps will be useful), a baseball bat and a gun (for last-resort suicide).
-I would travel from my home to Hempstead road. This is a long road with goes through a good amount of Houston.
-I would travel West, into the country, towards New Braunfels,Texas. There, I'll hole up in a hotel that my family and friends go to every summer. As it is a vacation town, there will be plenty of stores to loot for food and drink.
-I will hole up there and wait for rescue, if there ever would be one.

I think if there was a zombie attack I would just go live in the firth for a while.
