Cool.

Wow. I mean, Australia's banned games before. But to make it an actual crime to own or import it? That's more than a bit much. That's downright Orwellian.

Ah, yes. That reminds me. The new fighter, the F-35? The base near my house was supposed to be getting a shitload of them. Except a few people in the next town over didn't want to deal with the noise pollution of the new jets. I'll admit, these planes are loud even for fighter jets, but this means new jobs and an economic boost for every city the Air Force base touches. But no, who wants to raise their kids in a neighborhood where kick-booty fighter jets are constantly flying overhead?

Well, some people happen to like their sleep. Or maybe they don't fly at night?

Also, the Mortal Kombat thing made me facepalm.

I don't see any problems with it. I mean, we don't want any innocent kids to start ripping out each other's heads, right?

I've been playing violent videogames(MK, GTA,...) since I was 8. Number of heads I've ripped off: 0.

They don't fly at night. At night all their pilots are in bed around here. But during the day every now and then you can hear them way up the sky and find their sky trails. They don't strafe the town, they're so far up the plane is a tiny pinpoint.

In that case, the complaints are indeed quite ridiculous.

Around here (Eglin AFB, FTW), the planes fly pretty low, but that's because the pilots know we love them. The only reason Valparaiso residents are raising hell know is because the F-35 is hella loud. I won't argue with that, it is really fucking loud. But claiming something like "noise pollution" and threatening the local economy is bullshit. Eglin owns the land they live on, so there's been rumors of eminent domain being declared if they don't shut up.

Here's something more about Japan:

Quote:
Japan is considering burying a troubled nuclear reactor to contain the damage. Reports Reuters:

Japanese engineers conceded on Friday that burying a crippled nuclear plant in sand and concrete may be a last resort to prevent a catastrophic radiation release, the method used to seal huge leakages from Chernobyl in 1986.

But they still hoped to solve the crisis by fixing a power cable to two reactors by Saturday to restart water pumps needed to cool overheating nuclear fuel rods. Workers also sprayed water on the No.3 reactor, the most critical of the plant's six.

Backup plans, woo!

I heard they were just gonna dump a shitload of concrete on the reactors, obviously as a last resort.

Going there gives you the full silent hill experience, but instead of being attacked by monsters you fall down firey sinkholes.

There's another gas protest being organized? How stupid can these people be? There's no way a one-day gasoline boycott will do anything. You're still going to be driving and using gas, which you'll pay for later anyway. Even if this nonsense had any impact, it would be the gas station and the local guy that runs it that gets hit. You're not going to hurt a billionaire oil tycoon by refusing to spend $50 one day.
