So are you saying that you think she is dead?
She isn't. I haven't found a single reputable source saying she has died.
The Hello Kitty website (which, by the way, I am never going to ever again) has a miniblog and they say nothing about her death. But they DO say that the offices and employees of the company in Japan were not affected by the quake and tsunami.

Honestly the only things saying she died are posts by teenagers on Tumblr and people retweeting rumors.

Time for some pop flyin' news, yeah?

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504784_162- ... 91705.html

A tanker truck (gas tank if you don't know) suddenly burst in flames at a gas station and threatened a lot of lives because it was a populated area. The driver decided to jump in while it was burning and drove it away into an open area so it wouldn't cause harm to anyone.

He's now being a called hero by others.

So I talked about the Tokyo Nuclear Crisis with a student engineer today, who specialises in Energy and has already passed his Nuclear Energy class. I'm now even more worried. He said that another Tsjernobyl was an actual possibilty. The Fukushima plant is 40 years old and the concrete container surrounding the reactor(which Tsjernobyl lacked) has been severely damaged and a collapse isn't impossible. The total effects of such an event are hard to predict, but the surrounding area would become a total wasteland. Even now, going near the plant will probably kill you after an hour.

Predicting the outcome of this nuclear crisis is impossible with the little information we have, but we'd best not underestimate the potential of such a disaster.

That is amazing. Seriously.
The guy put his own life at risk (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM no more gas truck). Did he survive? Was he injured?
Details.

An international law needs to be passed preventing people from building nuclear power plants in areas known to suffer from earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.

The power plants were tested and proven safe in earthquakes.

For quakes up to 7.9.
This one was over that, hence the problem. Why do you think they only NOW had a problem with it? Japan gets earthquakes all the time. You are suggesting that Japan get its power from another source entirely.
How about an entire country that runs on coal? That seems like a step backwards to me.

I would suggest that the country maybe form an agreement with another country that has more stable land properties, and build the nuclear reactors for the benefit of both parties - 'piping' the electricity back to the home country.

This is not without its own socio-political problems, but would be more likely to prevent nuclear catastrophes.

This isn't a catastrophe. It might be eventually, but it currently isn't.
Quote:
A catastrophe is an extremely large-scale disaster, a horrible event.

So maybe the tsunami was a catastrophe, but the reactors CURRENTLY aren't.

I don't see what you are complaining about.

If you are referring to my catastrophe post, the quote was only there to show the exact definition: Large-scale disaster. Which the situation could eventually become.
