Footage of the tsunami from on the ground as it flows through a town.

So what do you do if there are tsunami sirens going off, and there is a shitton of water flowing towards you where there should never be water except for rain?

Take out your video camera, of course.

Also this video is doing things right. Comments disabled. Every other video of the earthquake is full of these comments:

That message brought to you by a moron who doesn't understand the energy released from that quake was far beyond any weapon humans are able to currently make.

Not official but some news sites are saying the final death count is expected to be over 10,000.

And this is a country that was actually prepared.

The high death toll is due to the tsunami, mostly, and low-lying coastal towns, which were swept away by said tsunami.

CNN reports that the official death toll in Japan has reached 977.

Japanese prime minister Kan says Japan's nuclear problem is "fundamentally different" from Chernobyl.

Kan also stated this is the worst crisis Japan has faced since World War II and urged his people to unite.

Tokyo Electric Power says it will ration electricity with rolling blackouts in parts of Tokyo and other Japanese other cities.
The planned blackouts of about three hours each will start Monday. They are meant to help make up for a severe shortfall after key nuclear plants were left inoperable due to the earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan.
Trade Minister Banri Kaieda said Sunday that the power utility expects a 25 percent shortfall in capacity. Officials appealed to Japanese for their understanding and support.

The French Embassy is advising its citizens to leave Tokyo and its surroundings in case a cloud of radiation heads to the city.
After a devastating earthquake and tsunami, multiple nuclear reactors are facing possible meltdowns at plants more than a hundred miles (200 kilometers) from Tokyo.
The embassy's Sunday message said scientists were indicating that the crisis would be managed and pose little risk to Tokyo.
But it urged those who did not have to be in Tokyo to leave for several days, in case the worst happened and a "radioactive plume" headed for the area.
Up to 160 people in the immediate vicinity of the troubled plants may have been exposed to radiation.

A state of emergency has been declared at a nuclear power plant in Onagawa due to excessive radiation levels there.
"Japanese authorities have informed the IAEA that the first (i.e., lowest) state of emergency at the Onagawa nuclear power plant has been reported by Tohoku Electric Power Company," the International Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement.
"The alert was declared as a consequence of radioactivity readings exceeding allowed levels in the area surrounding the plant. Japanese authorities are investigating the source of radiation."
Japanese officials told the IAEA that the three reactor units at the Onagawa plant are under control.

People are fucked in the head

UGH. THESE FUCKING PEOPLE. Not only is that the worst thing to say, but oh yeah. We were the ones who kinda dropped NUCLEAR BOMBS on them.

Not to mention that saying that we shouldn't help Japan because of Pearl Harbor is like saying that if something happened to England or just the UK in general, that we shouldn't help them because of taxation. I would bet that 70% of the stupid fucks saying that are too young to have lived during World War II, and even if there are people old enough who have had family or friends involved in the war, or were involved themselves, it happened sixty years ago, and Japan was under the rule of an emperor (which they are not anymore, unless you include the figurehead role of the emperor now, which is more similar to the Queen.) Get over it.

I do know a few people who recently moved back to japan from college though, and I hope they're okay.

The reports that Yuko Shimizu (creator of Hello Kitty) was killed by the earthquake and tsunami are false.
Same as the rumors that Satoshi Tajiri was dead.
And Shigeru Miyamoto.
And everyone else famous.

You're right, I lied. Everyone famous is dead.
Even those almost-famous-but-not-really people are dead.
All of them.

I have to say this, since it's killing me.

I am pretty fuckin' worried about the Nuclear Plant problem. I mean, I am, already, a pretty paranoic person, and then this happens and everyones is "OMG RADIATION, CHERNOBYL, AKDJGSK".

I dunno, I tend to worry about things a lot, especially of this kind. I am also worried that the radiation, somehow, reaches Mexico, since I live there.

...
I feel a little better after writing this. I know that some of you won't pay attention to this, but I HAD to say this.
but PLEASE, let the Nuclear Plant problems solve with little complications [as in, no splosion nor gigantic booty catastrophe]

That isn't going to happen. Fukushima is far, far different from Chernobyl. After several failed attempts to stop the reactor from continuing to heat, they are using sea water to cool it. You know, something they kind of aren't running out of. The explosions so far were all very contained and there has been little radiation leak.

There is not going to be an apocalyptic radiation cloud shitting all over North America.

Hmm, that search function is actually location linked, so I got facebook comments from Belgium. Basically everyone is raging about those pearl harbor comments and it's really reinforcing the ignorant American stereotype.
