The DS Lite is indeed fragile as shit. Mine has a broken hinge from falling off of my bed and onto a carpeted floor (drop of about 1.5 feet) and the microphone stopped working. DSi I haven't had any problems with, but I treat it as a divine artifact so lol.

The DS Lite isn't made with nintendium.

That's why it breaks so easily.

Wow guys, really?
Take better care of your systems. They sell protective cases for a reason. That is, if you drop it it is liable to break. If you put it in your purse or bookbag, the jostling around and tight fit could break it.

I have never broken a game or system.

The DSi is pretty durable, mine's been dropped about two and a hlf feet onto a hard surface, with no ill effects except that it maybe damaged the triggers, but they were dead anyway so joke's on them.
Not even the shoulder buttons are a problem for me, though, because Nintendo gives the DSi a yearlong warranty, plenty of time for the buttons to break.

Hopefully it'll be the same for the 3DS, otherwise I might pass on it.

On the subject of breaking games/systems, Super Smash Bros Melee spent about a year under my bed, and now the Wii can't read it. Only the Gamecube. It's almost kind of broken.

I have never broken a game or system.

A portable system should be made to be durable.

It's just basic sense.

They are durable, if you take care of it. It even comes with a wrist strap so you CAN'T drop it.

We spilled soda on our nintendo 64 whilst playing it in the car. (Our car has a tv cupholder combination / abomination.)

But yeah my ds is virtually indestructible. You can drop it on the floor all you want, and it wont break. But if you just open and close it a few times, KERSNAP! One unusable portable gaming system.

Well apparently they aren't very durable if all of these light falls are shattering hinges.

I don't know out of what you younguns make youse Nintendo DS lites today but back in my time it could get flung to the ground by someone tripping over the loading wire at perceived 30 mph and don't get a scratch. Multiple times! In a blizzard!

This happens, too.

Except hurricanes

and blizzards

at the same time.

Not even a scratch.

The thing is, its not the fall that breaks it, its opening and closing it.

Aliens can never beat us

we can tape Gameboys to our chests and make walls of duct tape
