I missed Katie's comics about Brawl.

Hooray for more Marth abuse.

Is this like, the morning after with Samus?

With a party like that, let's hope it's not a one night stand.

The art is generally okay, and the overall idea was good, but the panelling is a little clumsy, with the last four panels being particularly badly organised.

I know which panel is supposed to be the punchline (where Samus speaks) but my eye naturally follows from left to right and loops around to read Marth shrieking "AHHH" as the final panel.

It's unfortunate that there weren't more speech bubbles in those last four panels; You can position speech bubbles to control/direct the reader's eye movements across the comic page.

It read just fine to me.

You read it from left to right.
Meaning if there is a large panel to the right and three smaller ones to the left that take up the same amount of space (they do), you read those three first, then the big one on the right. Then you go down to the next bit (which there aren't any, since that ended the comic).

That was just my personal opinion.

I would also argue that the punchline panel should generally span the entire width of the page, or at least be much larger or more eye-catching.

All of those latter panels being so much smaller than anything else on the page seems 'out of order', for want of a better term.

I have seen the problem show up with other webcomics. The real problem is that they have the appearance of a traditional art form, but are on the Internet. The people who read this comic often bounce from other things like videos and foreign comics so the usual default of left to right might no longer be the default of the average reader. Then you throw in different browsers, connection/loading speeds, and monitor sizes and it becomes nearly impossible to predict exactly what pattern the reader will follow.

Should I feel odd that on a second read-through, I had that one Christmas song stuck in my head as a result of the title?

I was going to say something about reading manga, yeah, with the reading in reverse, and the resultant impact on comic reader's brains/reading logic.

I don't think the problem is to do with Katie sticking to the traditional comic form, I just think she could be more aware of how she panels the comics in general - the shape, size and location of panels affecting/influencing how the comic is read, and the subsequent impact on the reader.

Katie can take or leave this suggestion - it's just a suggestion - no insult intended.
